AS3 FAQ ’s
The Basics- An AS3 file can not be loaded into an AS2 file.
- If an AS2 file is built correctly, you will be able to load it into an AS3 file.
- An AS3 .fla file will only open with Flash CS3 +
- AS3 generally uses external “class” files for code. To find the path to the ActionScript code, open the main .fla file and toward the bottom of the screen you’ll see a section for the “Document Class”. Usually you’ll see something like: fiftyAndJack.awesomeTemplate.Doc
- The “dot” syntax you see above represents a folder. So in the case above, the .fla’s document class would be located in here: fiftyAndJack folder > awesomeTemplate folder > Doc.as
- Chances are you will not need to edit the ActionScript of our files as most options will be editable through xml.
- If your file is built in AS2 , it may be necessary to implement a special connection between your external swf and the template to prevent this. Feel free to drop us a line if you are interested in hiring us to implement this option.
- If your file is AS3 , as long as it is built correctly you will not have this problem.
