Welcome To OUTDesigns!
A big “Howdy” from Austin, Texas USA!
My name is Jeff Lewis, and welcome to my Envato Profile!
A little about me . . .
Website Design: I built my first website in 1992 . . . remember early HTML and using clumsy coding and frames? . . . no CSS back then! During those days, I assisted at The University of Texas teaching website coding in their Informal Classes. These classes were not only for UT Students, but open to the public as well, and were early vehicles which helped the public to grasp what it meant to “code” in those early years. Also, they helped promote the understanding that website design was well within the reach of anyone who wished to learn its basic rules, and not just for “techies”. . . . Look at it all, today . . . an Internet once clunky, slow and pixelated has now become the world’s most incredible communication tool!
Print Layout & Design: I am versed in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks, Macromedia Freehand and many other visual-design software packages . . . From logo design and corporate packages to event posters, I have over 29 years of experience in print and layout design. My clients rage from very large to small-business upstarts and each is treated with the utmost in kindness, professional courtesy and respect. I can supply you with a list of clients, simply drop me a line.
Sound Design: In addition to website design, I have over 40 years of experience in music. Classically trained in piano, I wrote my first song at age 11 and also play the alto & tenor sax . . . Today, I write digitally using several DAWs (Ableton Live is my fav). From simple corporate/logo loops to complete orchestrated pieces, I am at your service!
Photo: Of all that I do to release that creative-spark inside, nothing gives my greater pleasure than photography. I have 35+ years of experience in photography. I am an award winning/published photographer, trained in all aspects of photo composition, lighting and design. I am fully skilled in all areas of black and white film development and darkroom techniques and printing . . . and while sadly, this art has almost completely been replaced by the digital photo, I still find I ultimately get the most pure and beautiful results when I utilize those original wet-basics. Don’t get me wrong . . . I do adore digital photography and the amazing ways photo-manipulation has grown. I spend a good deal of time creating photographic works digitally using a number of software programs.
A little about my home . . .
Originally, from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania, I’ve made Austin, Texas my home since 1992 . . . and believe me . . . Texas is the last place I expected to land until I discovered the city coined as “The Blue Oasis in a Sea of Red”. Austin is the state capitol of Texas and the home of U.T. (The University of Texas). Austin also prides itself as the “Live Music Capitol of the World!” We do it BIG in Texas . . . especially when it comes to music. At any given moment, there is an incredible abundance of live-music happening throughout the city. So much so that you can enjoy a different live band or performer every night of the week, 365 days a year, and not see the same band or performer twice! We also host the infamous SXSW Interactive, Film and Music Festivals every March as well as the famous “ACL (Austin City Limits) Fest” each October. The weather is for the most part gorgeous, October through May. But, it takes a real heat connoisseur to appreciate our triple-digit summers. But, if you can survive the June thru September heat-waves, then you’ve got it made!
Ironically, while located in the heart of Texas (pick-ups, gun-racks and rednecks galore), Austin has made its mark as a very liberal city. Progressive minds and creative-types are drawn and nurtured here. The high-tech market is thriving . . . even Apple is opening a new 304 million dollar campus here! This, and the way “Austinites” proudly nourish creativity in all avenues has made it a very easy stay for me.
In closing . . . I hope you did not find all of this too long-winded. I simply live to create, and hope that you enjoy what you see and hear in my works. If you find yourself in need of something specific, I am always available for freelance jobs. Envato authors . . . please feel free to use any of my music in your creative works – just be sure to drop me a line so I may update my profile.
Again . . . thanks for visiting! Be well!
Regards, Jeff Lewis (OUTEarth) OUTDesigns, Austin Texas, USA
