Photographer, Traveler and Explorer
I grew up in a very small town in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. I went to college at Mankato State University Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree Specializing in photography. At the end of college I was working at the local newspaper as a photojournalist which gave me great experience with news/event/sports/people photography. I also have a great passion for nature/wildlife photography that has taken me to some great locations. Throughout my photography life I was working in restaurants and soon managing kitchens which paid for my photography at the time. After coming back from a seasonal job working as a chef in Yellowstone I decided to look for a job for what I went to school for. For the past 8 years I have been working at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a Biomedical Photographer. The job is extremely broad, we shoot all types of photography there; photojournalism, public relations, medical, research, in studio, location studio, sports, travel, editorial, commercial, and many celebrities. The job has made a powerful impact on my life. I hope to make a difference using photography to raise awareness and draw attention to these children that have this catastrophic disease. Using photography can be a powerful resource in this matter.
