Ozie Cargile, Composer/Pianist
Ozie Cargile advanced his study of composition and orchestration at the University of Michigan School of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music Composition, with principle degree in piano performance. Cargile has studied with several distinguished composers including Michael Daugherty, Erick Santos, Susan Botti, and Bright Sheng. His works have been performed by, among others, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York.
Most recently, his choral orchestral work “Song for Humanity” was premiered by the Boulder Symphony of Boulder, Colorado in collaboration with the 150-voice Boulder Chorale as a precursor to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Cargile also works as a composer for film having written scores for a number of projects premiered in Detroit, Los Angeles, New York and at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
