I am sure you guys are onto this:
There is a known issue on some themes that override WooCommerce template files (Flatsome, Genesis theme with Genesis Connect, potentially others).
When using these themes with WC 3.3, product categories are displayed in the shop as if you had chosen the “Show categories & products” display setting regardless of what display setting is selected.
This is due to a behavior change in the way the woocommerce_product_subcategories function behaves and template file changes in 3.3. We will have a fix for this issue on legacy themes or themes that aren’t being actively updated in WC 3.3.1.
If possible, theme developers should update their themes to use the latest versions of the WooCommerce templates. You can see what template files need to be updated in the release post on the developer blog: https://woocommerce.wordpress.com/2018/01/30/woocommerce-3-3-has-been-released/ (Specifically the archive-product.php template)

You can see which files are affected from the system status page. If in doubt, check with the author of the theme.”

Hello Frederic,
We have sent out a response.
Hi – I’m trying to show a featured products by category – and the only way I can find is a list view, bit the images are tiny – is there another way to view featured products by category such as a grid view?
Hi there,
You can use this element http://flatsome3.uxthemees.com/elements/products/ and select the featured products option.
Same as everybody here: WC 3.3.0 broke down the theme. Product portfolio now contains the main categories and there’s no way to remove them. Also the theme contains really old WC files and WC is asking us to replace them which will most likely break the theme completely. Please fix ASAP.

Today woocommerce released new version 3.3.0.
When will be out newer version Flatsome theme? Timeline +-, for example one day, two, three, one week, two weeks, month etc.
Because with woocommerce 3.3.0, woocommerce show that some pages/settings is older in theme.

Can you please remove the categories slug from the portfolio? Or at least add a way in the admin for us to control that. It seems there is no way to to change domain.com/portfolio/category/slug/ to remove all the categories and just be domain.com/portfolio/slug/. And even worse…if you have multiple categories, you separate the categories by a comma, so it becomes domain.com/portfolio/category1,category2,category3/slug/ which is really bad for SEO. I don’t know when this feature snuck into the theme, but can you please remove it or at least add a setting in the theme options for us to turn it off?
Hello Jason,
‘I’m afraid we do not have a setting to control this at the moment. Please place a feature request for this here https://uxthemes.canny.io/flatsome
I’ll add it to your feature request list, but do you think you could tell me the best way to modify the code in the /flatsome/inc/post-types/post-type-ux-portfolio.php to remove the categories as part or the slug? I’d adjust it as part of the child theme, I think the adjustment needs to happen on line 240.
I’d really love an update on this. I’m just looking for your input on the best way to temporarily fix this slug issue until you can put it in the options. Please see my previous post 7 months ago.
So…I never heard back from you and had to figure out my own solution. For others that want this fixed, here’s the work-around fix.
In file: /inc/post-types/post-type-ux-portfolio.php commented out lines 206 to 260
then add this to your child theme functions.php:function change_slug_of_post_type_portfolio() {
$args = get_post_type_object("featured_item");
$args->rewrite["slug"] = "your-slug-name";
register_post_type($args->name, $args);
}
add_action('init', 'change_slug_of_post_type_portfolio', 20);
I’ll add to their canny.io requests, but would love to see this updated in the next version.
Hi please can you fix compatibilitiy with WC 3.3.0. I can’t remove the product categories from my shop page.
