well quality/originality is subjective, so pricing this way is going to leave some files under or over priced.
As each file has to pass the reviewers a baseline has already been set so therefore I think a simple price per style makes much more sense.
I just don’t think my styles stand a chance being priced up to 60% more, when offering less.
also Giallo – its strange they are accepting all these metal styles now!?
I my gallery I have some of these styles and I made them before your styles, its just happens people come up with the same ideas. http://graphicriver.net/item/5-liquid-layer-styles/120305
who’s are those similar to? random post.
Artorius, I am not sure what my sales record has to do with this? Especially as they were made on a entirely different site, surely everyone should be treated the same? Also you might have notice Flash is not a popular as it used to be, hence I am here!
The reason i am annoyed is because I invested time into a file that has been completely eclipsed by a very similar file that is also much cheaper. Why would anyone buy my file now when you can have almost the same for 40% cheaper + 4 more styles?
I would also add another thing. The styles them selfs are not the same in any way. How can someone say that they are copied, when in fact they are technically different styles. The shadows, patterns, textures, strokes, gradients, colors are different. There is not one of these things that is the same with Chuckanucka’s design.
that is not issue, the problem is you saw my file and recreated three of the styles right down to the font I used.
ah sorry, yes I don’t think he has literally stolen my styles, but he has copied the font + theme + overall concept. And he has done this three times.
One or two of those things would be ok, but I think it’s legitimate to claim ownership of all three together ,otherwise what’s to stop anyone coping any good selling file here?
I’m the first to shoot someone down for blatant theft (and have done a few times!) – but in my opinion this isn’t a copyright infringement.
The guy has 3 styles which are vaguely similar to yours, but then horror is a pretty narrow field and I think any horror pack would include styles like that. Also, the styles aren’t really that similar, they just look more similar because you’ve both used the same fonts. Neither of you own the fonts, so you can’t use that to support your case.Although I agree with you on the pricing thing.
3 styles with the same theme – possible
3 styles with the same theme & fonts – very unlikely
3 similar styles with same theme & fonts to the only horror themed text style file on here – come on!
There is no way he was not looking at my file when making this. There are thousands of fonts he could have used and there are tons of other things you can do with the horror genre. I have a notebook with over 20 other ideas for horror text styles, it is not a narrow field.
I am going to remove the font listing from my file descriptions to stop this happening again.
well the author claims is just a coincidence. I guess there is nothing left do, but contact support.
I wonder what people feel about this. Take for example the styles category:
Pricing is all over the place:
5 styles for $5
5 styles for $2
8 styles for $3
12 styles for $2
how am i meant to compete with files that are up to 60% cheaper with more than double the styles?
Even a file that copied three of my styles (with 4 more styles) was priced 40% cheaper.
It seems simple to have these prices consistent – make set prices for the number of styles!
thanks guys I have emailed the author first to give them a chance to fix it. What I find almost as worrying as the copyright infringement is this really highlights the inconsistent pricing.
the problems of approving AS2 in 2011:
- it splits the audience for every file
- AS3 provides solutions to lots of the things that Flash has a bad reputation for
- it simply looks bad. In the “real world “devs have drop AS2 YEARS ago.
when do people think AS2 should be dropped? It’s been nearly 5 years since AS3 was introduced..
