what I really need help with is why the heck does this happen…

http://dave-singh.com/sites/

See what happened? it has got split there i have NO idea why

For the link mentioned above, you need to reset the margins on the p tags (or get rid of the unnecessary p tags you have there).

Add this to your css to remove the gaps mentioned in the link above and style as needed:
  • { margin: 0; }

Best Regards,

Drew

Edit-I am not sure how to format code in these comments, the “dot” above in the code is an asterik (shift on the 8 key ).

Double edit-you could also just reset the margins on the p tags by replacing the asterik above with a “p” :)

Without looking at all your code because of all of the tables I cant really be sure, but I recently had pretty much the exact issue with a bg color not expanding after the image. Have you made sure you are clearing your floats in the section with the issue? I happened to miss a float and forgot to clear it which caused the same issue you are having. :)

Best of luck,

Drew

My biggest reason for using themeforest is the advertising. Simnor recently had an excellent post, in where he made the point that 25% of a $20.00 theme is $5.00 compared to a $35.00 theme that doesnt sell at all. Point is, like many of us, I just cant afford to advertise and brand myself the way Envato does. I see a lot of our payment “cut” is due to their advertising, which I dont think anyone could argue against. Envato will bring in 5x if not more advertising than most of us could alone.

Best wishes,

Drew

@mastergreed-I understand, again thanks for your input and reassurance.

@kailoon-You have a job to do and you do it well, no need to apologize :)

@Jeffrey-Thanks for your advice and input, I will have a look at experimenting with the font sizes etc, as I said I am still developing the theme so suggestions like this are highly welcome.

I just want to note, this isnt my first web site I have designed, just one of my first wordpress themes (besides my personal site), I am more of a coder and backend guy. Which is why I appreciate even more all of your input and help, thanks to all for helping me improve :)

Best Wishes and Happy Halloween!

Drew

@Master Greed,

Thanks for your honesty :)

@Simnor-Thanks for the kind welcome and sound advice, its nice to hear from you again. Regarding the validation, I agree, I always try and strive to make my html templates valid, but I am still relatively new with wordpress and found some validation to be a real pain. Point taken.

To be honest, it just isnt my best work and I dont think its practical. I am working on a new theme now, instead of starting a new thread, perhaps I could give you all the link and see if this one is any better?

I am just finishing coding the css so the links and such are not functional: http://creatingdrew.com/Themes/SimplySimple/

Is this design an improvement?

Thanks for all your reviews and honesty :)

Regards,

Drew

Edit-Just to note, I havent swapped the png “check marks” out in IE 6 yet but I am aware of it :)

I own both, but only touch my PC when I need to test my design and code in IE. Mac + Coda + Abode Master Suite = Pure Joy. :)

@Shadow- Couldnt you just insert the rows and cols and leave them blank and then style with css :)

Or will this not validate under strict?

Hi Guys,

I am kind of embarrassed to say, I recently uploaded my first wordpress theme for themeforest and unfortunately it was rejected (it happens I guess :) )

Anyway, I know the design isnt mind blowing to say the very least, but I did put a lot of work into the back end and scripting of the theme. It was rejected for not being aesthetically pleasing enough. So my question to you, do you think the design is worth salvaging or is it just not practical for what themeforest is looking for in a wordpress theme? If not, what would you change? Just looking for opinions so I can improve. I have plenty of designs lined up so I am trying not to let the rejection discourage me :)

here is the url: http://premiumthemes.net84.net/wordpress/

Best wishes,

Drew

Hi All,

I just have a quick question. I recently got the written consent to use a font for a theme I am in the process of making. When I upload the file, in the notes to the reviewer section, do I need to include the actual written permission (ie copy and paste what they said or send in an attachment)? Or is it enough to tell you I have their written permission. I am more than happy to prove it, I just didn’t see an area to attach a note or something of the like to prove that the fonts ok for me to use.

Much thanks and best wishes.

Drew
