I love the service that CodeCanyon, ThemeForest and other Envato sites offer but the invoicing system is lack-luster at best!
As an owner of a design/coding business there are plenty of times when I need assistance with more complex code or designs that can easily be purchased under a usage license on these sites and I am VERY grateful for that.
But when the year end comes and I have to go back and reconcile my purchases, expenses, and sales I need detailed reports.
Rant #1Your current system of displaying the purchase history is weak at best. You show the purchases, the dollar amounts and the date… all of which are a minimum requirement when doing my taxes. But your sorting system makes it very difficult to get exactly what I need quickly. I don’t care to know that I made a purchase 9 months ago… I care that it was made on a very specific date (which is different than mine being that you are located in Australia, but something that is easily figured out), so I can compare it to expenses in my bank account.
Rant #2Monthly invoices should be readily available. Since you deal with (to simplify) 3 actions: Deposit, Purchase, Sell… it should be easy to supply a basic monthly invoice link below the (hopefully newly updated) purchase history. (see Rant #1)
Rant #3Because the world revolves around me…. allow us to specify a region so invoicing is specific to said region. As mentioned earlier it’s not difficult to compensate for the difference in date and time from Australia to the US but it should would make it easier to set a region in my profile and the information is managed automatically.
Thanks a ton guys! This is a Great service you offer here.
I have a client that wants to animate a progress bar of sorts. They want to be able to hover over a certain “stage” of their progress and have a pop-up box show that process in more detail… maybe even including video or text (though that isn’t necessary).
I could probably use a JQuery hover effect but it would require some customization that I was hoping not to get into. I was hoping someone here already coded something that I can purchase that would save me a ton of time.
Below is a rough example of the progress bar. For each “Process” dot they hover over the details would show in a pop-up box above it.
I appreciate all the options, thanks for the feedback. I chose bits and pieces then went another route…. Be upfront.
I purchased the content that I think would fit his needs, accepted the costs as part of my operating and design costs and let him know that I needed to consult an expert Flash programmer to get what he wants. Ultimately it won’t effect his price and it gets him what he is looking for… I think everyone leaves happy and the client gets what he is looking for.
Thanks again for all the responses.
Oh, I may have left the wrong impression. The cost isn’t the issue. Generally speaking it is money well spent. I just don’t need the client to see my supplier in other words. He doesn’t need to know I’m purchasing the chunk of code needed to finish the project.
Is there a way to allow a client to preview a sample navigation file without allowing them to see everything that ActiveDen has to offer? I would love to show a client some navigation ideas w/o him knowing I am purchasing the code to insert into his existing site for obvious reasons.
I guess there wasn’t enough people with the problem, I was sure there would be a list of people that also had the issue.
I have run into issues with the “Win $3500 to Spend on the ULTIMATE Graphic Design Setup!” Contest.
Some people are unable to post links to their collections in the comments section as requested. I made a couple tests over at VectorTuts and it appears (at least with my account) that you can post a link to say http:www.google.com but not to a more complex link like the one required by your bookmarks.
Hopefully someone can look into what is allowing some to post but not others…. I would be very surprised if many others didn’t just give up trying because it was frustrating them.
Regardless, thanks for the opportunity for the contest and hopefully this can get corrected.
Here is my Collection: “Top 10 Wordpress Portfolio Themes” The 10 BEST Wordpress portfolio themes for maximum image presentation and exposure.
Made an entry myself. I enjoyed spilling a bit, regardless of the outcome.
EXACTLY what I was looking for, thanks a ton TonyC. Thankfully I already do most of that with my .PSD files, in fact I use much more detail on naming my layers and setup. Hopefully I can get some going soon… thanks again!
Thanks Tonyc, I reviewed that and it’s a decent start but I want to make sure that whatever I end up putting up there follows the lead of a good .psd file already established.
If I can’t find anything that works I’ll just give it a go and wish for the best =D
