The thing is:
I removed the content (G. Clooney) before my account was deleted. They didn’t check, they just locked me for NO reason.
Feels cosy, doesn’t it?
Do you know that situation? You read BAD news and feel like somethings creeping into the back of your head? You feel the heartbeat in your throat? You’re shocked and close to losing control?
That’s how I felt yesterday when I was deleted. Just so, without prior notice. Thanks envato, thanks themeforest for that and a sleepless night.
I relied on you.
Same happened here. Our account was disabled (for 24 hours in my case). Customers got mad. I couldn’t log in anymore and had no more controls over items, comments and earnings.
I also received a message about a soft disabled item some days ago. I’m not reuploading it as it’s an old item. In the days before the lockout I went through my items and removed all questionable content.
Seems like TF didn’t check for compliance, and just locked me out. Well.
What really makes me mad, is the fact that where should be the “details to be discussed with authors privately”, there’s a blank space in the email:
For example, see these posts and articles (some of which have also been notified via your author dashboard):
Remember, we cannot be copyright investigators, and have not conducted …
So, TF didn’t throw me a bone, they just locked me out of everything, without giving me any reason. So far, there have been no details to discuss, only the fact that I was one-click deleted.
I’m on TF for more than 2 years now and my items have earned the marketplace more than $ 20.000, not counting my own earnings of course. Also, if you take a look at the number of my forum entries, I’ve always actively worked on/with the themeforest community. I’m no spammer or pirate who can be treated like you treated me.
I had a sleepless night, and I’m feeling a bit like a dog in North Korea now. I’m not sure when such a lockout will happen again, it’s definitely not the way I would treat my customers or partners. EVER .
Actually, it may be allowed in terms of GPL , but in the end it’s a lie. There are many many “developers” who ask big money for their “work” which is: Buy a themeforest theme that comes closest to your clients’ desires, let the real developer customize it (for free of course) and charge your client $$$ for your “work”.
I’ve seen this hundreds of times now. Really annoying, and I stopped supporting people who claim my design for theirs.
Pretty sure that WP 3 .4.1 will solve your issues
Hi, not from Normway (Skøl!) but I’m sure you’ll have some kind of chamber of commerce or interest grouping for self-employed people. Or simply google for it. Sure you have to pay taxes and it doesn’t differ much from any other self-employed activity.
How much you earn depends on how much effort you put in + how talented you are – no one will be able to tell you that. But take a look at the top 500 authors here, I’m sure they earn a decent living from themeforest sales.
