I think it’s a good idea. My only concern would be that, given the choice, I’d rather people buy my items than rate them… and I’m just wondering if this might distract people (if only ever so slightly) from buying stuff, as they’re too busy worrying about rating stuff. Don’t get me wrong, it is a pretty good idea though.
Thanks SpaceStockFootage, Your point is valid of-course, but I don’t really believe it’s a distraction, it’s the client’s role towards community of both buyers and authors.
Nice idea. An alternative solution may be to have a Request Rating button in your dashboard (author) next to each purchased item. You may click after a few days to remind the buyer to leave a review of such item, (like Chupamobile does), so you can decide when to send that reminder, also because we’ve noticed that some user published our items after 1-2 months from the purchase date, so they won’t rate our templates before seeing them live on the AppStore. What we mean with this is that if the users get a review reminder too soon they may still forget to rate your item, at least that’s our thought.
Yes, That’a a good enhancement
Talking about ratings… I also don’t understand why the comments in the ratings are only visible to the author… I’ll be happy to let potential buyers see what other customers have to say about my items. Actually I’m starting to create JPGs of their reviews and post them in my items descriptions… Every other site I know that uses ratings (Amazon, eBay, Booking…) actually shows the ratings and the comments to potential buyers. I believe it will make everything more transparent.
Good point that all those websites have public reviews. This will be very helpful for clients and even authors.
Great idea.. But the Ratings should be a separate Tab like comments, and then the buyer should be able to read all existing reviews. Because Reviews helps in Purchase Decisions.
Sure surjithctly, this would be useful as well. My main idea was to make it more visible on the website not just making it public in the item page.
Thanks for your feedback. Hope that Envato team will consider this as well.
SpaceStockFootage saidYou see, there is a “Skip” button bellow. I think that if you click it, another item will appear. If you will rate one, another will replace it. I think that`s how it could work
How would it work if somebody has got ten items that they haven’t yet rated? I’m assuming there wouldn’t be a list of ten of those?
Exactly AudioTrend, It should be navigated to other item if it’s either skipped or rated.
Dear fellow authors,
Hope you are doing great. Recently, we realized that only around 10% of item purchasers actually rate it. I thought that this part of the marketplace needs more exposure when I saw the Google Play store concept which gives you a chance to rate the apps you have in the home screen:
So, I came up with this suggestion to Envato Team and I guess they would need your opinions about this as well:
