this is just fantastic! great work.
WordPress is definitely worth learning even if you’re a beginner. most hosting providers provide ways to easily install it if you’re uncomfortable doing that sort of thing, the ones that come to mind are Mediatemple, GoDaddy and HostGator.
http://wordpress.tv is also a great and free resource to learn more if you do decide on WordPress.
well, just an update, i’ve decided that i will try a 3rd party solution, see how it’s received, and go from there.
who has done, or currently is doing, this approach to support? what were/are the drawbacks and challenges you experienced?
couldn’t agree with you both more. i think it’s a huge missed opportunity for authors and a big help to buyers.
in fact, i bet video walkthroughs rarely (if ever) actually deter someone from purchasing a theme…in my mind, it will only convince them more that your theme is easy to use and right for their project.
another great point to remember for all you themers out there looking to improve sales
Is authorize.net a trusted payment gateway?
Yes, I’ve setup a client through authorize.net before without a hitch. They are one of the largest around.
Looks like they even have a simple 4 step process for devs…looks easy enough! Good luck to you.
Is anyone else using a 3rd party solution to support their theme buyers?
I’m about to release my first theme and am seriously considering using a Tender to provide an extended support experience for my buyers. You know, something more than just an FAQ and some comments pages.
It just seems like it would be a better fit for the support-focused authors who then can track problems, answer questions and get suggestions all separately…plus be building a support community around their framework/themes.
I think I remember running across a few authors doing this before. Any thoughts from you seasoned theme veterans?
I do hope Envato has plans to push update notices via the WordPress API to the Dashboard Updates SubPanel…I’m sure many of you have updated Twentyten because you were notified with a badge in this subpanel.
TF users deserve a better updating experience and I think they deserve it this way!
Anyone else agree or disagree?
I also miss the podcast! It was going so great too… maybe the Chicago meetup threw a wrench in the schedule?
will do that on the old iPhone :))Not sure if that was a question, but if it was, then yes it should be able to load on your old iPhone through the iTunes Store…or you can just load up iTunes on your Mac or PC and search ‘Envato’ in the iTunes Store there…
