Now let me first state there are some really great themes on Themeforest. They look good and function properly. Their are authors who give superb support and deserve all the sales and high rating that they receive. Now for the other scrupulous authors that quickly put together some buggy mess and then unsuspecting buyers are asked to fork out $55.00 that is another matter. I think it is time that the owners of this website investigate the comments made by persons who purchase these faulty themes. I know it is stated that themes are tested before they are allowed on Themeforest but honestly I have to wonder if all the themes are tested. There are themes where the basic functionality do not work and it does not matter if the buyer is a beginner or someone with lots of experience. I think buyers should be given more respect and a fair platform to be heard after all it is the buyers money that keep things going. Presently this whole set up is geared toward the advantages of the authors. They create some copycat theme that have a lot of bugs, they put it up for sale at premium prices and they get several hundred unsuspecting buyers who purchase their theme. Buyers the end up sending many support requests until they become so frustrated most just get fed up and eventually end up buying a different theme, no redress. Authors laugh their way to the bank and buyers keep forking out more money for a new theme. It is a vicious cycle that goes on and on and on. It is just not right or ethical. Themeforest have a lot of choices but I seriously think I would start purchasing from other Wordpress theme developers/websites and not just a marketplace.
I would not considered myself as an experienced Wordpress user. I have bought several themes over the last year or so. There are themes that are easy and intuitive, other are plain hard and buggy. I think Themeforest needs to be more vigilant with the Developers/Sellers. Developers seems to think it is just about the money, so they create a theme that has several issues that needs to be worked out and put it out there for sale. When you contact them with the issue they are irritated. Oh, and don’t get me started on the number of updates you have to continually do because of the buggy themes that are sold to us unsuspecting customers. Please, Developers who take their time and create good themes would always get 5 star ratings and plenty sales because they give quality work. Some themes are just so frustrating, in the end you just never use them and it is just a waste of the buyers money. Or and lets not forget about the Documentations, very little details just general information. Imagine a seller would not even state the size images that should go in a slider. So naturally you have to try and try or ask for support. Good ratings belongs to those who take their time to produce good designs, technically functioning themes with detailed documentation that communicates clearly to both the novice and experienced user/buyer.
