Adding any kind of layout/design to the site would’ve been neat.
can i spam too? lol
Firefox yes, IE no
funny, “limited invitations” hype still seems to work… but it’s google so maybe that’s different. Reminds me of when gmail was invite only.. now don’t even use it anymore. And seen a number of sites picking up this ‘invitation only’ phenomena… keep wondering how effective it actually is.
You still can use any html editor to create the ‘preview description’ and preview that, think that still works ok. T’is what I do.
.. suggestions for file features. It’s definitely something that could get implemented at some point I think
+1 hear hear. I myself have in the past been asking for author’s favorites and file reckomendations for a listing site of mine. Definately would like to see AD implementing this somehow. Regular picks are nice, author opinions would be evenly so.
It’s all about taste. Many of the files one may put in the “elite” column I’d personally put in the “flee” basket and vise versa. So unless we all suddenly developed the same taste, I don’t think this sort of thing would be feasible.
maybe you’re right. taste in the end is always personal. but then again, in graphic design / art academy I was tought what is good and what is bad design. (hope I picked up enough, hehe). So maybe a, however subjective it ends up being, form of criteria would be plausible for making a selection. I think we all reckognize a great file when we see one. And besides design the same can be said for item funcionality.
I think ‘good’ items end up selling well because they fall under a e.g. “90% of all people like it” category. Maybe that’s what ‘elite’ would define, at least for visual. I’ve seen many items not getting the appreciation i think they deserve in the funcionality area.
Other than the top authors it difficult to find good files.baloney
not entirely, or better… not by default.
One can assume that plenty popular authors became such because they had ‘fresh’ and/or ‘good’ files and ideas. But I do agree that a lot of excellent files are greatly overshadowed by top authors, and I’ve noticed most popular authors can do little harm in public (not popular author) opinion. Don’t take me wrong, that’s not popular authors fault and a great lot of them deserve praise, but the word ‘worship’ always pops in my mind reading FD forum.
Luckily there’s files of the month, compensate extra exposure where it’s due. I myself actually used those to find files which deserve extra attention on a stock listing site I maintain (can’t name/link, will get deleted). That’s a great addition on FD
but as to the issue of seperating on quality like e.g ‘elite/flee’... definately +1
buyers would benefit most from that.
