Using a VH item is not mandatory. You can also use a screencast tool or other video capture software to prepare your videos. I only mentioned that as an alternative.
Its the first 19 Authors to email us/post in the forum here who will get accepted. We are not picking and choosing.
12 spots remaining now
Hi fellow authors,
You might have noticed on the Envato notes blog recently a couple of posts giving details of an Adwords campaign which was run by a group of authors from ActiveDen about 1 year ago. See this post for the details/results of this campaign.
Recently we decided to run a new version of this same Adwords campaign, but this time it will be aimed at Themeforest and CodeCanyon. These marketplaces are much more popular than ActiveDen was, so we can imagine this campaign will be much more successful.
So how does it work?
Basically we are looking for 19 additional authors who have at least 2 items on either TF or CC or between them. These authors will need to create a YouTube channel which features at least 2 videos of their work. A screencast of the theme/plugin/template with background music should do the trick. These videos will then be dynamically imported into the campaign’s landing page and 2 items from each author will be shown randomly in a grid arrangement. (Some authors last time bought presentation templates from VideoHive and used those instead)
What’s the goal?
The purpose of all this it to increase the sales for all participating authors as well as helping to grow the user base of the Envato marketplaces in general, which is of benefit to all authors. To achieve this we aim to use Adwords and YouTube videos to drive traffic to the landing page, from there traffic is sent to specific files and in the process receives a common referral link. The participating author therefore receives a potential buyer direct to their item page. If the referred user then buys anything either from that author or from the whole marketplace, any referral income is collected on the campaign’s Envato username. This income then goes back into the Adwords pot to fuel the process for another month. Then we just rinse & repeat as long as there are available funds.
What does it cost?
The cost of the campaign will be $75 per author. Of this amount $60 will be added to the Adwords account and $15 will go towards setup expenses (domain name, hosting, landing page, etc). We will be taking care of the project setup and Adwords campaign management.
How do I join?
Contact us via our profile page to let us know if you wish to be part of it and provided there are available slots we will send instructions of what needs to happen next.
When is this happening?
We are NOW gathering the group of authors and over the course of the next few weeks we will be getting ready to start. Once we have the full group, we will set up an email list so we can keep in touch with everyone.
What to do now?
The very best,
Man, our WP Estro slider plugin in codecanyon has required a huge support commitment on our behalf & purely for the reason you have stated. WP themes & plugins badly made & breaking our well made plugin.
We have to check each client’s setup & if we see this happening we just tell the buyer to deactivate plugins until they find the bad one, or if it’s the theme we just tell them to contact the author & ask for he fix.
A good set of FAQs can help but the whole thing still takes way more time than it should. We’ve ranted on the forums many times, but nobody takes notice & authors still release themes & plugins which do not follow WP development best practices.
J, you da man! Excellent & phew!
We stumbled upon this while testing a simple CSS scale transition for a new item: worked as expected with all major browsers but epic fail with Firefox. (image jumping to another position)
After a medium-to-long wtf-ing session, we were able to create a test case on jsfiddle and conclude this is a browser bug, here’s the test link:http://jsfiddle.net/jQ3fs/10/
Please check and post here if the bug is happening for you as well + your Firefox version as we’d like to file a bug report with Mozilla for this issue.
not a good idea imho: even with free/optional support, some buyers comes with all kind of customization requests. Once they paid for it, it will be really hard to make them understand support != free customization.
