sevenstyles, PartyFlyer, indieground… you guys should treat staffs some beer
hahah I live close enough to them I might just walk there with a 6pack or 10! This is great, Christmas has surely come early though I hope the price increase doesn’t deter too many buyers. Thanks staff, high five from me!
Woah… theres a serious amount of vectors rolling into GR
geez… just checked paypal 1 USD = 0.898747 AUD
my life is over!!! hahaha
I love GraphicRiver, it gave me the safety net and confidence to leave my job and live my dream as a freelancer. I will be forever grateful to Envato for this.
But virtually every decision made regarding GR in the past 3-4 months has concerned me.
First of all the removal of dedicated marketplce managers to instead have a consolidated group. Amanda was the driving force behind GR, and was awesoem at her job. We had monthly competitions, better promotions, all our concerns were responded to almost immediately. Now we have almost zero staff presence.
Then we had a huge batch of files added from one author – we were told that this has been paused for review. But it seems the only thing that may change is the way in which huge volumes of files are added, not the actual addition of huge volumes of files!
And now the marketplace homepage is quite literally a joke. I have put quite a bit of effort trying to persuade clients who use plces like iStock to consider using GR and PhotoDune instead. But right now, I’m embarrased to be recommending this site. When TF wanted to expand the Magento category and added 50+ magento themes from one author. They staggered it to only add 3-4 each day for a 2 week period. Why are we not worth the same treatment?
Totally agree, things have changed quite abit on GR recently.
Well, from the beginning I dabbled in all sorts of things…styles, actions, backgrounds etc. but wanted to fit myself into just the one category and really develop a range of files there. I love creating flyers and posters as it keeps me thinking creatively with each new one and I guess with the massive flyer influx in keeps you on your toes wanting to create something unique to set yourself apart from the crowd.
I am guilty of throwing a few ladies in my flyers but merely for a little variation in my folio. I must admit that Envato should dull down the semi naked girls a little… probably not a good image for GR in the long run.
But what I find interesting is to look at the top files for last week! Just 1 flyer in the top 4 rows! These are the smart people, taking advantage of these popular categories and developing beautiful, comprehensive files when others are too focused on following a trend to hopefully get a few sales.
I think the huge amount of flyers could be because of my last few months sales, and my folio is primarily flyers….so people are seeing I have made over 1000+ sales for the month and thinking.. “What the hell is he making to get those sales?”, so naturally they will give it a go to see if they get a similar response.
If people worked solidly on a particular category like…”photo styles” or “Web elements” and build a name for themselves for producing quality files in that area, then they will surely be looking at 1000+ sales per month, for me… I just love creating flyers and I am trying to build a reputation for doing so… but there is definitely holes in other categories…especially web elements. There are awesome web designers here that go easily go to 1000-2000+ sales if they focused on that category…
Anyway, interesting thread!
I Think is really good! Love the tones and texture, has a great feel about it. I would prefer to see it abit smaller though? Because I had to scroll and scroll down to see the whole thing….but 10/10 for sure!
Yeah I got spammed 4 times today
I blame it on too many holidays… for Australia that is! 5 day weekend over easter then a 3 day weekend the following. Lots of people taking off the 3 days between, that’s basically the first half of the month written off. Would be interesting to see what the Australasian sales percentage is across the market place, I wonder if my theory holds water?
Yeah I agree. I had to work extra hard and upload lots just to hold regular sales. If I uploaded nothing over the month sales would have dropped big time!
