Hey guys & gals,
I would love some advice on my themes as they all seem to be getting 4 star ratings. It’s really getting to me that people rate the theme without letting me know why they rate it low so I can improve them. I update my themes regularly and when ever a customer has a suggestion I add it in on request! My Rapture theme is going to be getting an update so it looks like my WP version this week, so hopefully that will help.
So any advice would be awesome!
Don’t worry about it. 3 stars would be worrying, but 4 is good, most of buyers look at comments section and check how fast author is in giving support (or if he even do it). From my experience it doesn’t matter that much if your theme has 4 of 5 stars (I’ve got two, simillar in functionality, wp themes, and one is top seller with 4 stars, while the others wasn’t so succesfull but it has 5 stars rating)
Unless Envato will make some modification to rating system (e.g some comment box while rating) we will be blind in that area. Some users might give you one star because they think that they owe you for couple of $, and you HAVE TO answer immediately, some are confused with source files because they don’t have enought knowledge required to modify theme, some just rated by mistake, there might be hundreds of reasons (of course I’m sure there are also users who think some theme deserves 1 star, and there’s nothing to argue about that), but you’ll never know.
Here’s a wild idea…
You could put a poll on your profile page, asking something like:
What should I improve on my themes:
1. The design
2. The code
3. More Features
And then you could narrow down the option with most votes, and so on and so forth.
Or you could just introduce a survey, but people get annoyed with long surveys.
