I’ve noticed that there are a very few people who have animated homepage images, I thought it’d be cool to have one, so I made a very simple one and then realized that I’m not allowed to use a .gif file as a homepage image. My question is; is it possible to have animated homepage images? Or is that only for a special few people? Or was it allowed in the past? If it is allowed, how do I go about doing it?
You can use JS to animate an image instead of using a GIF if that is the problem getting in your way.
As for animated avatars on here, they were phased out some years ago.
Off topic: Probably you’ve also noticed that several authors also have animated avatars It was indeed allowed in the past but now you won’t be allowed to use one
Back on topic: Steve (Australia) is correct, you can use an animated PNG
@Novadust – I believe the OP was referring to the homepage (profile) image. There’s no way of using JS there
I often think that the animated thumbnails look messy..

Kontramax saidI always find myself spending at least 30 minutes on your profile looking at your animated cover
It depends how good it was made. I miss my old animated avatar here.
You were one of the people that I was talking about, you have an animated gif as your profile cover… How?
