yeah..the reason why i am asking this is that i am launching a big website next month and i am hoping to get really heavy trafic(who doesn’t) :D at this point i am just scouting for hosting companies so that’s why i had the bandwidth question :) My only ‘decent’ and ‘with a good offer’ company that i found until now is mediatemplate.. Do any of you have hosting with them? Or do you know other better hostings with decent prices? I don’t want to spend more than 100$/mo for hosting at this point..

I assume you mean mediatemple. I have the grid hosting service since June. Never had problems and the speed is okay I think:

I suggest you to choose a regular hosting company for a while and see how much traffic you’re getting. Later on you can decide how much bandwidth you really need and there is a simple rule that never changes; you get what you pay for :)

Hello,

I have the MediaTemple GS (grid service) and I have had no problems at all. I host quite a few different sites on my GS and I have never had a complaint about anyone not being able to access any of my sites. I highly recommend MediaTemple. Also, the only time I did have a problem, my site was down for about 45 mins and they credited my account for a free month of hosting. I love them.

I too would recommend going with a general provider and upgrading later on if traffic grows to the point of justifying it. I’ve used nearlyfreespeech.net for personal websites and their pay for what you use model is great especially when you start out. Websites tend to take a long time to become large, so unless you are spending heavily on advertising I wouldn’t worry about spending heavily on hosting – yet.
