just trying to find a solution to the fact that I get less sales on videohive even if I upload more stuff. Was thinking this was part of the problem, but if the data say no then what I can I do. Maybe people just purchase from the first page result and if I’m not there then I sell less. Well at least some other author is happy with a sale even if there were a chance I could win the buyer if they saw my file.

but I know that, that thread will be deleted in a couple of minutes! so, I’ll just waste my time for nothing :D

Another experiment we’d like to see:

On the home page “New Items” section, the two links under the page of items in each category goes to “All Items” and “Popular Items” of the entire marketplace. But what each link should do is, is go to “All Items” and “Popular Items” of each category. Currently on ThemeForest for example there are 13 links accessible on the home page which go to “All Items” and “Popular Items” of the entire marketplace, but only 1 link which goes to “All Items” and “Popular Items” of each category which is only accessible from the main drop down menu.

Envato cuts the flow of traffic short not only on the homepage but on search results pages too, because it’s like they’re saying to buyers “Hey haven’t found what you want on this category page? check out the most popular files of the entire marketplace!” or “Hey haven’t found what you want on this page? check out Envato Studio!” These tactics all though drives huge traffic to the all time best sellers and Envato Studio, it thins out exposure to the rest of the items selling here.

Of course, you are 100% correct. Sadly wasting your typing as i am now. Again if they are not willing to move down that banner how do you think they will go make that kind of decision? They just don’t care, sorry envato for saying it so blunt but you do not.

IF you calculate the daily sales on marketopia and do a rough calculation and see just how much % of all that income comes from only wordpress most popular list, you will get shocked. Just first 5 items represent 5% of the whole daily sales, 5%!!! That’s a huge number!

Haha true.. I’ve said this 100 times already – it’s disappointing because these small tweaks would make a huge difference to creating a more fair and competitive marketplace, so I don’t understand why Envato can’t see the obvious and make the marketplace better for the whole community, instead of 5 – 10% of the authors.

Staff already addressed this: they don’t see any important change in the total sale numbers and they are OK with it, they don’t really care about distribution of sales as long as they are on expected level. So, business as usual, and no need to test anything as far as Envato is concerned.
