I don’t have a lot of time on my hands, but I decided to dedicate what I have, to creating a “celebrity” that is a bit more unique. In my honest opinion, characters as the one I’m currently working on, don’t get enough exposure in terms of screen-time! Remember Mr. Miyagi ? Didn’t you ever wish you saw him in a bunch more SERIOUS roles? I did.
I love the high level of expression a huge number of wrinkles gives. Hence my concept will strongly rely on the persons age as a means of telling a story. It’s not exactly a “celebrity” but it’s someone who’s face you remember much deeply, and on a much grander level than a simple “beautiful person”. It’s the beauty within that shines through that makes them memorable.
So stay tuned and follow the following link for constant updates on the WIP . I will submit to my posterous, as it’s much quicker in terms of editing and uploading images centrally, through email posts.

Enjoy, and feel free to C&C.
Best regards, CB.
Nice, I like your story behind it! Looking forward what you will come up with. One thing:
every aspect of the face is freely created and may very well be exagerated to transpose a certain aspect of the subjects personality.
This doesn’t mean you can ignore some anatomical points;) Of course this is up to you but I think with a good base your sculpt can be a lot more believable. Nonetheless nice start and i’m looking forward to what you come up with!
Thanks for your input Remmers!
Given the fact that we’ve also seen a great piece of caricature sculpting submitted to this contest, I doubt that my own, while trying to achieve realism will stray further away in terms of anatomical proportions . I said it will be freestyle, I didn’t say I’m a total knob when it comes to anatomy thanks again for your feedback and support and stay tuned for further updates.
Kind regards, CB.
Cool fair enough haha good luck!
p.s. I like how your doing the hood/shroud!

Thanks mate, good luck to you too! Was totally glad to see that you had also started submitting some wip stages a bit ago Was a bit worried due to the time limitations. I will try to finish mine today, as on Monday I’m planned to get back to our new apartment, that is currently in the middle of MAJOR renovations. So back to work
Join the dark side… and together we can rule the universe…. muuuahahahhaaa!!!!
In my opinion the nose looks like that of a younger person stuck onto an old persons face. You need to integrate it a little more into the face. Wrinkles have sharp creases and rounded bulges and crisscross a lot more (like on an old apple). Your wrinkles currently look more like those of hanging cloth or molten plastic. There is also something strange going on around the eye corners. I have never seen drooping eye corners like that on a human. Funny thing about old people is that (i know this sounds strange) they start to look more like they did when they were babies again… rounder, bolder, toothless… just a lot more wrinkly and a little more saggy
I hope you can make it in time mate, but don’t neglect whats important over this. There will always be the next comp!
Thanks for the feedback Matthias! I felt the same way about the nose, and had a whole bunch of wrinkles and details in mind. The current stage is only the first one though, and the current stage of “wrinkleage” is just the base… I will put a few more hours worth of work in it today as soon as I get home. Oh, and no worries about the comp, seeing the other contest entries I had no hopes of winning before I started this just hoped to make something nice though. Oh, and regarding the eyes, actually babies are the only ones that might show anything like those falling corners, but then again that’s also something I need to get fixed.
Wow she is actually quite scary! haha. To be honest I quite like the eyes, it makes the face almost feel like an asian mask or something. I prefer the second image where you exaggerated the facial expression.
Keep it up and good luck with the renovation!
