have you ever thought of implementing a chat room for us authors, as well as for speed communication between clients and authors or authors and Envato support team? I´m sure, everyone would benefit of such a service.
What do you guys think about that? Let´s share opinions and keep this topic as clean as possible by specifying + and -+
- real time communication between Envato members
- ultra fast support for clients (of course only possible if the author is logged in as well
- ultra fast support for authors with issues which only Envato support team can solve
- chat conference between multiple authors to discuss rejection and improvement issues
- expensive to develop?
- spam (-> enabled ban function)
I think we’d all be better off with one.
I’d like that too Sometimes, when I have time, I like to read forum threads, but it takes time until people post, so it’s not very “dynamic”. I think a chat would be more dynamic and attractive (or maybe a facebook group?)
It seems like a great idea but I think Envato already have a lot on their plate to even start thinking about adding this. We could make an unofficial chat room for authors and buyers. I’m happy to help set one up, I use to run a chat room a few years ago
Sounds great, haha it would probably be another one of those things that can distract me from making music.
In my opinion, the Support concept isn’t exactly sustainable, as inquiries range greatly in complexity and an instant response on specific issues would not be possible > hence the ticket approach makes sense, and at least from an organization point of view, having a longer conversation threaded and split is easier to follow than a single mixture of personal interaction, jokes, and the odd question here and there.
Also, you need to consider that even something as simple as a “ban” function, actually requires moderation, and as such, at least 1 person would need to be present on such a chat-room, permanently keeping a watchful eye, which again isn’t something easy to implement.
After considering the above, there’s also the fact that with social media, this infrastructure is already in place (both for contacting Support for “under 140 character” issues via Twitter for example, and for personal interaction with other authors). Keeping that in mind, and looking over the various social media related topics we had in the past, I’m wondering if there’s a genuine need for such a chat-room, or if it would become a project that ends up being forsaken after the first hype expired.
But hey, that’s just me I’m all for innovation and improvement, but I also make a habit of finding possible loopholes and issues that have been left out of the general balance of positive/negative arguments. By all means, I would love to know the broader opinion on this topic!
A chatroom is a nice thing, but I’m afraid I would loose too mich of my time I have for writing and arranging new songs for the chatroom…..
I think we have a lot of room, fun (“and but dollar” or Juck Norris’ presence ) and possibilities for supporting each other in the forums. And like contrastblack said, there are enough social media possibilities around for those who want more.
Just my 2 cents…
i will be admin of this chat “Admin_Pixy”
Well, if you guys use Skype, check this thread: LINKY. Just add me (the_crakken) or Krafti (krafti_der_blonde) like the others and we will add you to the group chat that we created. Right now, we are 43 Envato authors, but only a dozen of us are active, so it would be great if we could have some active ones.
There, we don’t mind if you want to share the link to your item, we don’t mind if you want feedback or beta testers, talk about your life, share some funny Youtube videos or almost anything else you want .
Don’t worry, no spam, Krafti and I are always around, we have enough power to delete a message posted there or kick ban any user but we absolutely don’t boss around .
Any Envato author is welcome .
