Epic Themes Swix- dev has disappeared, need to update jquery or find replacement theme

Sorry if this isn’t the place to ask this question. I wasn’t sure.

So the Epic Themes developer is gone from TF, and their website is gone, email turned off, etc. I have a problem in that it seems the theme is causing conflicts with a plugin I’m using on a client’s site(WP Bakery Visual Composer). Wordpress and VC are updated to the latest versions. But I’m getting jquery errors in the Chrome developer console related to jquery, and I’m assuming it’s a conflict of versions.

Basically, for Visual Composer, drag and drop functionality is not working, among other things.

So how do I go about updating jquery in a clean way on the Swix theme? Am I just asking for trouble? I don’t even know for sure that it’s a conflict, but all the errors are pointing to different versions of jquery.

If it’s more trouble than it’s worth, can somebody recommend a similarly structured theme that doesn’t break the bank? It looks like I might have to eat that cost, which stinks, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Any help or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Hello Brent,

My advice would be to switch to a different theme because as I’ve found out for myself using another one of their themes, the themes are coded improperly.

I’ve decided there is no point in fixing it (the problems are due to javascript/jquery conflicts). Once I delved into the code I realized they weren’t loading things properly in multiple places. It would take a ton of time to fix all of that and make it more future proof against future WordPress updates. If your time is valuable you are better off purchasing a new theme that is coded properly IMO.
