It’s kind of annoying to be sent directly to the last post every time. What is the reasoning behind that?
If I’m going to the thread for the first time, I want to read the initial post.
If I’m returning to the thread, I may have missed many posts (or even pages) and need to find where I left off anyway.
The way it is now only benefits me right after I’ve posted a reply.
Agreed. i thought it was my computer doing that. lol.
I think it’s a bios setting
but say a thread has a few pages already and you are actively following the thread it would be kinda annoying if you were sent to the first post every time you made a new post… I think it’s right how it is now.
On the main Form pages:
If you click on the name of the thread you will be taken to the first page. If you click on the name of the last person to post to the thread, it will take you to the last post. At least that is how it works on the topic pages – the ‘New Threads’ list is different for some reason.
On the other hand, the ‘Recent Threads’ lists – you will be taken to the latest post if you click on the forum name or the poster name. A bit confusing. I will chat to Ryan about this soon and see if we can make it nicer.
The solution I think would be to always send a user to the first post and have an obvious link to the last post right there…not just a link to the last page (which already exists), but an anchor to the actual latest post…and make sure it works correctly…the anchor doesn’t work right currently…it sends me to the bottom of the post so I can’t read it without scrolling up.
