I’d like to remove the Flickr and advertising widgets on the Convergence theme and replace it with some other things. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks! Pete

I believe he has those 3 elements hard-coded in sidebar.php and then his “wigetized” area starts below those elements. So this means any widgets you add in your Wordpress admin panel will show up below.

So, you can go into sidebar.php and remove the code for those 3 areas (Ads and flickr). Then go back to your Wordpress Admin > Appearance > Widgets and your full sidebar should be “widget ready” like a typical, plain-o Wordpress theme. You can then drag and add widgets as normal.
