Hi all, although I come from AJ I think this question is applicable to all marketplaces. What is your strategy when it comes to backing up your projects? Do you actually give a damn? If you do, on what medium you choose to backup it up, how many times over, how often, maybe you only rely on cloud services?
It would be great if you could walk us through your process of archiving, not to show how your method is better than the other but to show what works for you, when it comes to using that data again whenever necessary.
Looking forward to your replies!!
Time Machine & BitBucket
EDIT: That way I have 2 physical versions, and then one cloud version.
Daily on USB which I leave on my desk (in case something happens to my PC). And weekly on USB which I place elsewhere. Never liked the idea of relying on third-party services for my most sensitive data.
I backup all Cubase files and all audio files that have been used on tracks using external drives. I also backup WAV and mp3 files including zip files that I upload to AJ – JUST IN CASE!
Interesting stuff!!! Keep them coming guys!!
I synchronize everything via Google Drive. While working in Cubase it constantly uploads the latest version to my folder on Google Drive. Works like a charm and saved me also when have a computer crash. Just find the latest backup file after restarting the computer and you are good to go again Also all stems, wav and mp3 files are of course backed up like this. Also makes working on different computers on different places easy. Just login to your cloud, sync it and voila!
the best online backup tool known to man for both price and quality and backyupness, and Time Machine locally.
