I’ve been thinking for ages about what we could do to improve the forums. Once upon a time we were going to use a 3rd party product (like phpbb) but opted for something custom so we could integrate it with the site better.
Obviously it lacks some of the useful features that other forums have.
So while we’re busy with AudioJungle and whatnot, I’d like to solicit your opinions for future reference
What would you add (or remove) from the forums?
Marcus has been working on number 3 (not only for forums, too). So that’s coming in the next week or two
Email response, do you mean like ‘email me when I get a response to this thread’?
Oh, this moment finally came!
I’ll say this for Denizen (AS3 guy) – sticky threads I think it’s named.
A way to browse the latest threads in the New Threads panel. Even pages would do.
A way to close a thread. (like the forums have) This would be useful sometimes.
I’ll post some more.
some mini editor for formating the text… i’m tired adding <.br/> to text

Also! like bobocel just said.. Sticky Threads/Announcements! That’s been mentioned many times
and while you guys are at it… PLEASE allow 3 letter word searches… AS3 , SAD, MP3 , XML, PHP ….it’s Really important for finding product to buy!!
on a lesser note.. i still don’t understand why the word ‘serious’ always returns error when entered in the search!? ppl looking for serious music won’t find it, mind you I have it many of my descriptions.. why is that?
1. Ability to review a list of threads that I’ve posted to and/or created.
2. Search functionality
4. E-mail response (when users respond to your post, etc)
Ya…here are mine…
Possibly signatures if the size is small.
Email notification (like subscribing to a thread)
Vew my recent threads.
Mini text editor
Close inactive threads after a specific amount of inactivity.
I am pretty sure thats all I can think of. A good idea would be to look into some of the popular plug in forums, and find a list of features and then try to replicate.
