I am also having problems installing this theme. http://www.olevmedia.com/themes/preview/?item=expo18-wp It shouldn’t be that complicated for an average person. I am really getting frustrated
I really do not understand why a zip theme file being sold will fail to install. I expect all the necessary materials to make the theme work is already in the zipped file and ready to be installed.
I have already sent a message to the theme author and the support team to sort this out, but they are away till on the 9th of January 2013.
The only help I need at this point is for them to successfully install the theme on the two websites.
I am just tired and frustrated and I do not need additional stress.
Before buying any template here, ask as many questions as possible. Because it was after buying a template I realized, it can only be use on one blog even though it was never indicated. It is very complicated to set up and not user friendly for non IT specialists. The slider is not showing and other features too. It could be a bug too who knows
The file gets quite good rating do I doubt there is a bug and it probably just needs setting up right especially as the author has even updated it to WP 3.5
it is a shame that you have had issues but it does clearly state in the terms and conditions that we all agree to when signing up or purchasing items here that authors are not obliged to support themes in any way (even though many do) and that all purchases are for a single installation.
hopefully you will find the theme easier to use for you once you get used to it
Have you unziped the file you downloaded and upload the theme inside it? Please see Solving broken theme issues if you haven’t yet. You’ll either want to upload the the expo18 folder by FTP or zip that same folder and upload it via WordPress. There’s documentation included with the theme once you unzip it. Hope that helps
@KingDog, I uploaded the expo18 folder zipped via WP add themes, and that is why I was able to use the theme option section. I even click on “Check to show slider on the homepage” but it is still not showing. Thanks for your help.
First off please do not mention competitor sites on here (and really call out theme names in a derogatory way).
As it happens:
- you do not get anything like the quality from certain other competitor site as you do here
- you pay more
- their support (not on all) takes a long time and is often questionable (just check their FB page!)
- customization costs a fortune
they charge for setting up or installing themes(that can be done using a freelancer here v easily and cheaper)
TF is a marketplace where AUTHORS (i.e individuals) sell their files. TF have no copyright and other than ensuring quality standards are approved and rules of the marketplace are adhered to, have zero responsibility post sale. They cannot offer support for something they did not create and do not own the rights to. The other competitor you mentioned are a company who are fully responsible for and own all of the files they sell.
On a more useful note… Have you read the documentation that supports the theme? Assuming you have created a slider for the site to show (maybe post a link to your site here for more help), then you may have to wait for the author to be back to help you.
Hope you get it sorted out
As Paddy said post a link here and we/someone may be able to help you if you are in a rush before the author is back from holiday.
Just as a point of reference the 1 installation rule applies to here as well as ALL the leading competitors.
Good luck with your issues
