Yeah, I recently got a Facebook message full of them Every sentence ended in a few ))’s. Took me a while to understand it was enthousiasm and not a weird grammar-related disability.
I’ve seen them too but never figured out what they look like. So i figured out it doesn’t look like a face, it doesn’t even come first in mind that it’s a smile, so it’s… plain stupid.
Believe me or not, but using smiles in such way is very common in Eastern Europe, especially in Russia/Ukraine.
Sometimes I see people use single brackets, sometimes two or three after a sentence, what is it for?
