sorry to be retarded, but I’ve never layed a hand on a mac in my life until today, and I was trying (unsuccessfully to decompress a .rar file). Any guidance on how/what/where to compress/decompress .rar/.zip files?
ps: I already miss winzip!
Yeah my bad. Can an admin please move this? Thanks a lot for the tip, but I’ve found an app which seems to be doing its job so far.
The Unarchiver is available for free directly on the Mac App Store:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-unarchiver/id425424353?mt=12
It’s really awesome, I have it set up so that you just double click the archive and it creates a folder with the same name, extracts the contents there and then automatically moves the archive into Trash. I forgot all about WinZip after this app. It sits in the background too, no clutter anywhere.
Thanks a lot guys, I’ve tried both and they seem the better versions of what I had found. While we’re at it, could you recommend some very useful apps you couldn’t live without?
