It does not seem as though your search function allows searches of the comments for themes or plug-ins. There is much valuable information in these comments, when will they be searchable?
Hi there ohia,
There are two main reasons as to why the comments are not searchable as of now.
First of all the current database structure of Wordpress stores the comments in a separate place than the posts. As a result the default search functionality that retrieves entries from the posts table omits the comment information.
In addition, the standard results pages are designed to visualise posts and pages, since those have permalinks and could be linked directly to. If comments are to be made searchable, it would mean that some different way of visualising the results should be thought of.
Both of these issues are not of great difficulty to go around and it would be very realistic to create a plug-in that would extend the currently existing functionality to leverage the content stored in the comments.
Thank you for the rapid response.
I purchased Progress theme by Tamesh and I cannot find a forum elsewhere so I am left to CMD + F my way through all 11 pages. It’s making developing a slow-ish go. But still. Thanks for the quick come back.
You are welcome ohia. Just give us a shout if you end up trying to crack the comments search yourself in the end.
@iapcsolutions Is any bit of my explanation confusing you by any chance?
You can use google to search item comments. Just follow the format of site:codecanyon.net ITEM_NAME “SEARCH TERM”. An example you can paste into google:
site:codecanyon.net “CCBill Payment Module for OpenCart” “Congrats.”
You get a link to every page of comments that has the word congrats.
Whats this referring to? .Im confused too
