The web is replete with sites for every inclination. Just stick to images that relate to the theme. The images should show how the theme would look in action and for the buyer to better visualize his own site. If the theme is a retail theme for women’s clothing then by all means have those images. If it’s a corporate/business theme then the same follows.
There is a small line between a classy, stylish, fashion showcase and something that looks like plain porn.
I hate seeing images of grotesque characters and half naked women in a theme
I’ve also felt this way.. This should be a professional marketplace and making use of sex to sell themes, is simply unprofessional and cheap.
People in conservative countries have different values I guess, and want women covered in veils
This is not about conservative or liberal countries. It is about ethics and about moral principles. If you have none, of course you like seeing half naked women all day. I never look at themes that use such images. Why? Simply because i respect my wife and live devoutly.
So no naked chicks? ooooooohhhhh, damn it!
If you want naked chicks, there are special sites for you to see them there, not in a theme marketplace.
best images on themes I love come from DeviantArt.com and Behance where you showcase some amazing artworks by graphic designers
Exactly! You make a beauty related theme? Use decent images of fashion photography.
You make a portfolio theme? Use related stock photography featuring websites or amazing art..
You make a photography theme? Use mind blowing images that don’t involve women dressed 20%!
It is not about gay people or stupid ideas. Is about not turning this whole marketplace into a pornographic site!
PS. All respect to @marcopolo488 for opening this thread
As a top buyer here, I Really like seeing beautiful women in the themes and everything else. It keeps me coming back for more; having models grace the pages and pictures here is a super idea and I personally like it. A lot. If you had boring buildings or guy photos I would Not want to look at that.
People in conservative countries have different values I guess, and want women covered in veils… or gay guys might want to see pictures of men and hate seeing pretty women, lol but I’m neither. Now I would draw the line at totally topless or nude women, I don’t think that’s appropriate, and so far I haven’t seen any of that. All the images here are all family-friendly g-rated stuff of women.I love pretty women here in the themes and other content and think it adds a Lot to the natural beauty of the site. Just my .02.
Wonder am I missing something. I’ve never seen something that could be even close to porn in themes and that kind of images are certainly not allowed here. I agree with CLINE123 it is totally acceptable if the template is for fashion industry for example to have people as models. Maybe that is annoying for someone from conservative countries, I don’t know, but that’s how things work. I don’t have anything against fashion models in theme pictures, male of female. Personally I don’t like grotesque characters but if I see themes with them that sells well I could easily accept it as something that people love and start work that way.
First when I saw this theme I though it’s going to be about template’s functionality, not about preview pictures that are there just to gain attention.
There’s nothing wrong with classy fashion photography but seeing chicks in bikinis in an unrelated theme is simply unprofessional in my opinion. I’m not a conservative by any means but I think it’s quite tasteless. We’re here to sell websites, not sex. And to those looking for that on a website marketplace, go somewhere else.
There was a saying about this.. something like: If you can’t make it good, make it 3D!
Now we can add “...or add naked chicks!“
Prothemeus, I obviously miss that themes.
I agree, that would be tasteless if it will become trend and 90% of themes would appear with that pictures. Maybe I look too much in corporate category and there are still just people in business suits.
Think of the marketplaces like your television. There are lots of channels, and lots of shows. And some have content suitable for kids, and some have content suitable for adults. But just because you disagree with the adult programming, does that mean you think it should be censored? Most people believe in freedom of expression and just change the channel.
We all know the difference between nudity and non-nudity. But how do you censor non-nudity? Is there a limit to the percentage of cleavage that can be shown? Should we start measuring how far down the clothes are on a person’s waistline in pixels?
Just like the television example, people who are turned off by this stuff will just change the channel (find another author). But people are always going to object to one thing or another. There are probably lots who hate seeing all the Christmas products that start to pop up in the winter. Bottom line, censorship of any kind is bad.
