I need a script that gives the clients the opportunity to modify a part of their website.
I’m looking for a solution that has to know the following:
- require user/password - a user friendly, easy surface when the client can edit the contents of a predefined file - must accept HTML code, the editor should support full HTML code - maybe editor switch WYSIWYG /HTML? - shouldn’t run on 3rd party servers (I know something called expressionengine..) - should be free or have a cheap one-time or per website price (codecanyon?)
e.g. e there is a frontpage.php included in the index.php, I specify that the contents of this exact php is editable through this mini CMS .
- it would be a plus if this could manage several files per website, but not mandatory
This is all I want. I could use any HTML template here instead of joomla. Our clients who need this want the easiest content management possible. I want to use my own designs as I can code a HTML /CSS template but porting it to joomla/wordpress just to let the client some control over the content is a waste of time. I’m talking about smaller projects..
hoW about cushy cms? thats free and works for small updates pretty well.
Cushy runs on their server, but will tak a look at it.. MODx, I don’t know. Will have to test it.
Anything simpler? Currently we are using cutenews but it doesn’t like html in its editor…
Hi, Put aside ONE DAY to learn modX (probably less if you know html/css) and you will not regret it, I use it for many clients and have never had a complaint. You can customise the FREE download to only include the features you require so uploading to the customer server takes only minutes (can be uploaded as a zip file)
Modx is great but the first thing I’d do is check into how html/css gets ported into it. If I recall correctly it might only be as easy/equivalent as porting something into wordpress.
i once needs someth¡ng like that and i resolved it very quickly using wordpress anyway. whay i did was to use only pages for the client to change some info, you know, just that, the rest was hidding on the dashboard. then on my normal php files, static ones, i use some includes and custom functions to get only that pages and put the info on the pages.php i want.
and was so quickly really.
so i used wp only “as a little cms” for that, i put the instalation on a hidden folder, like _+_ops, and that´s all. i didn´t use the theme for anything.
in fact, is very easy to use wp outside the theme itself, using php of course, you can get info, loops, etc, from other place.
