I was thinking of artinstitutes.edu but have heard mixed reviews. I live in Texas.
Also I know you don’t need to go to college to learn web designing. I have been interested in web designing since i was 14. i am 30 now. I just want a degree to show that I am a web designer.

Show for who? Friends? Family?
I think that your future employers would not be interested in your paper, but would be eager to see if your actual skills are on par with the current standards and quality requirements.
For a web designer, portfolio > web designer degree from any university in the universe
Indeed it will be a plus but you really do not need to do it ; If you always in the mood “I should learn more, I don’t know enough”, then you’re already on the right track, it is a life long journey (and this is not only valid for web-design and / or development). College will give you one more positive social environment, but that’s it. Internet is the biggest, and richest college , and it is completely free in most ways.
It’s only up to your personality, positive attitude and hardwork. Even the best college in the world really can’t give you those. It is all about YOU.
And coming to work, believe me they will be interested with the end results, not with the piece of paper you’ll show to them.
at your age only your portfolio and experience counts. Create a killer portfolio and blow their mind.
Web design is one of these careers in life where the best diploma to show is your Portfolio of past works. So at this age, don’t spend time going to an institute, bat rather start improving your web design skill, mastering, for example, wordpress development or another specific language and framework for building web apps and web pages like Ruby on Rails. Then, is more important to show yourself how much you know, that the others. Nowadays, everybody want to see the results of your work, not what you did to get them. So focus in learning or improving your web programming skills.
Thanks I will start building a nicer portfolio.
Should I do it or go for a degree instead?
If you have a job, can got a lot of money. Please do your job, don’t become a website designer, it’s not a good job.
I recommend no college at all. They teach 10 year old technologies most of the time and you can learn more in 1 month for free on the net than a 2 year course at college. I have run design business before and I can tell you I never ever hired someone based on a college degree – always on ‘show me your stuff’ and talking to them face to face.
However, saying that so many major corps will not even look at you if no degree. However, design agencies and even your facebooks / googles of the world are only interested in your abilities – not what’s written on a paper from a college.
Hope that helps put another angle on this for you.
