Hi guys, i have just had my mac back from apple because it died on me even though it was, still is only 1 month old.

Anyway they did a full reinstall of the operating system.

I go to install CuteFtp and it wont let me, it says apple no longer install 3rd party apps as from 10.8 OS.

So that was a waste of $60 which i paid only 2 weeks ago :(

Anyway what are good ftp clients which will install on the mac os 10.8 and are not 3rd party apps?

Ive emailed cuteFTP but lets face it, i cant see them doing anything just yet, if they are not apple registered by now they may never be….

I am looking for ftp, with and without ssl and with ssh1 and ssh2 control.

cuteFTP had all this which is why i originally went with them.

Hey,

Sorry to hear about your mac, and within a month… thats pretty bad luck, any idea what was wrong with it? hardware.. software?

Regarding a ftp client, Cyberduck is worth a look, and its free :)

Hi cyberduck is no longer free, or should i say they are no longer supporting the free version, you can see the new paid version here, but it does look promising.

They said a virus came through the email system of the built in email client. Which shocked me as i thought macs were unbreakable through these means.

I use Transmit.

You can install 3rd party apps. You just have to disable apple blocking them in the system preferences (I am running ML 10 .8)

System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Allow applications downloaded from Mac App Store and Identified Developers.

Hope this helped :)

I do not think i will be able to buy this as they are a 3rd party developer and not apple registered.

You can update old software which is already installed from your old lion but from mountain lion new installs need to be apple registered.

Shame as this looks good :(

Yes it worked :)

I also had to turn firewall off while it connected for the first time.

I was wondering about transmit, it looks very good, what are the pros and cons?
