Bitfade use notepad. Deal with it. :P
lol

compilation time is much important (for me) than anything else
quite strange nobody ever mention it

Yeah because your code is extreme :) In a good way. You’ve encountered things that can slow the code like using Number or uint instead of int. Most of us won’t even notice because we don’t have that complex scripts:)

Sometimes I just do trial&error and then it’s very handy to hit ctrl+enter very oftern, FD connects to flash, that’s cool. Not sure about other software. Going to have to try some.

not really, it has nothing to do with code

as far as i can remember, Flashdevelop uses fcsh, which allows for huge speedup expetially if comparing to CS4 ,5,6

exactly… i got some codes of thousands of lines and sometimes it takes up to many seconds to compile, depending on how much I’m whipping my pc with other stuff in the meantime. And then try developing and testing your movie a zillion times a day. It can become quit frustrating to the point of getting flashbacks to the days of windows 95 saying outloud “come on already… lets goooo”

I recommend FlashDevelop for its awesome auto complete feature, templates that makes my typing MUCH faster. As for auto format and quick rendering times, go for FDT latest version. They’ve also got a pretty handy search funtionality (which I believe belongs to Eclipse) that makes it easier to debug someone else’s project.

I use both of these tools and of course the result is much more efficient than coding in Flash IDE .

You’re making me feel vulgar and mediocre. I use CS3 , and the wrost thing: i’m confortable with it. :(

IMHO :
  1. FlashDevelop ( the best code completion and the quickest one…, fcsh)
  2. Intellij Idea (great debugger, pretty fast, fcsh || parallel compilation)
  3. Flash Builder 4
