Missing style sheet error when installing the theme

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a "Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

How do I get support for the theme I purchased?

We provide support through the ticketing system on our site. All you need to do is:

  1. Prepare your Envato purchase ID
  2. Click here and create an account on our site
  3. Log in and submit a ticket in our HelpDesk

Once you sign up you’ll be able to access HelpDesk for as long as your support period is active.

We highly recommend to do the following before submitting a ticket:

  1. Update WordPress to the latest version
  2. Install the latest version of the theme
  3. Set PHP version on your server to 5.5 or higher
  4. Set PHP memory limit on your server to 128MB or higher
  5. Deactivate all plugins to make sure the issue is not caused by a plugin

In 25% of cases these 5 steps will solve the issue you’re experiencing.

Q: I got missing stylesheet error, what should I do?

This error appears when the wrong file is uploaded to WordPress. On Themeforest you have two download options:

  1. All Files & Documentation
  2. Installable WordPress File Only

If you downloaded “All files & documentation” then you need to unzip it first. Inside that folder you’ll find theme installation zip that you need to upload to WordPress.

If you choose the “Installable WordPress File Only” then you can upload it directly.
