I’m trying to make a support request but the Academist LMS is not listed as an option at https://qodeinteractive.com/submit-a-request

A user is getting timed out on the courses (exams). I changed the course duration to 3 hours per exam, but the user still only sees 1 hour.

I’ve cleared site and object caches, and cleared the user’s browser cache; the user has tried in Edge and Google Chrome.

How can I get her to see the full 3 hours? Is there a way to reset her user account so she can retake every single exam at 3 hours?

Hello, i have the same problem. I read the documentation but in the wp-admin interface I can’t find the options for ‘Slider Settings’ https://academist.qodeinteractive.com/documentation/#1_testimonials

We are sorry but we need to tell you that the testimonials within our Academist theme does not offer the slider option and this was a mistake within our themes documentation which will be corrected.

So once the testimonials are added to a page they will automatically slide.

1. Please note that for our demo site, we haven’t done specific site speed optimization because the main accent was put on showing all the features and elements from the theme, as well as keeping the highest quality of the photos. There are many ways and tricks for improving WordPress site speed so-called speed optimization. A balance between size and quality is necessary. A good hosting server is also very important for the site´s performance. We always give advises to our users in support tickets when they build a site in our theme, what steps they should take in order to improve the speed. Google also offers PageSpeed Insights for detailed performance testing, though some people from the programming community say that this tool is not as accurate when it comes to analyzing and assessing website performance.

2. & 3. All the features that are presented on our demo page can be achieved. We can forward your suggestions but cannot promise this will be implemented.

The Appearance Options / Customiser for the theme is highly lacking in being able to change essential things, such as the master colour used across the site – set to the Code pink, cannot be changed without a lot of custom code or manually searching the hex in all the CSS files (including plugin files) and changing several hundred CSS entries to your desired colour.

The most simple & bizarre issue I’ve just stumbled over is the “Course Single” page setup – when the course pages are set to “Show Title”, the title that gets published is simply “Course Single”. It does not inherit the actual course title, just the dummy text.

There are practically no options for customising the single course page; you can add or remove the sidebar, but rearranging any of the actual course content displayed is not an option, nor is removing the enormous hero image in the middle of the page.

I bought this theme around 5 years ago & couldn’t get far with it at the time; I’ve recently picked it up again for a new project in the hopes it would’ve improved in those 5 years, but I can’t see how it has?

For $85 it’s not unreasonable to expect to be able to have even a little bit of flexibility/customisability over how the course content is displayed, considering this is an Education-specific theme & something Qode appears to specialise in.

Please advise if any of these will be rectified in coming updates, otherwise this comment serves as some insight for potential buyers: it’s a decent theme and the display is fairly polished, but it’s very limited in the LMS in what design & content elements you can control, and a few weird careless coding bugs/mistakes.

We are sorry to hear this but we do have our Theme options where you can change most of the colors on the theme. So please instead of Appearance > Customize navigate to Academist Options.

When it comes to Course single you should know that it is already a predefined template and the layout is presented on our demo page. If you wish to remove the Header image you could always consider removing it with CSS.

If you do have suggestions on future improvements you are more than welcome to send us a mail to our help center.

Also, have in mind that all features and layouts are always presented on our website demo.

The colour settings in the Customiser do not control 100s of instances of the base pink colour being used across the site; as other customers have queried in comments and support requests, the “main site colour” changes some global elements but nowhere near all, and none of the other colour settings allow you to globally change the master colour. It has to be done manually by changing the hex in multiple css files within the theme and plugins. Your response does not address this.

You also seem to have misunderstood my comments about the single course page too. The header image is not a problem, the image I was referring to is within the page body, and fine I will have to remove that with CSS. The major issue though, is that the page title is fixed as “Course Single”. It cannot be changed to the relevant course’s actual title, not even using CSS. This is absurd and clearly a mis-code at your end.

Fine that the course single page is fixed and the only design available, that is a small compromise compared to the other glaring design issues that are outside the customer’s control & make this theme both buggy and ultimately not design-friendly for any level of user.

Based on the above vague response from Qode and persistent customiser flaws, I stand by my original comment, and recommend potential users of this theme seek an LMS-capable theme that is better established.

If you do not wish to show the Title there (Course Single) you can always from our Academist Options > Title > Title Area Type > choose Breadcrumbs only, since the title of the Course is displayed below the title area.

For the course color you can perhaps try to add this code to Appeareance > Customize > Additional CSS:

There’s no directory for teachers as it is for courses, but there’s a teacher page that displays assigned courses and teacher’s curriculum – https://academist.elated-themes.com/instructor/scott-brown/

The students have their own dashboard page that lists the courses they bought. You could check this and other functionalities by clicking on the Login button in the header of the demo website and using the following login credentials: Username: test Password: test

But there is no specific one for teachers.

When it comes to the live classes, unfortunately Zoom integration is not a part of our theme feature nor has it been tested so we cannot guaranty theme compatibility. You can always try to integrate it on your end, or perhaps add zoom link.

Thank you for reaching us! Student certificates are not initially incorporated as one of the theme’s functionalities. Certificate should be created and uploaded by the teacher or school itself. It’s impossible to make a general template of the course, as topics of the courses are limitless. You could, however, add this with a third-party plugin.

How courses ordering works? Will user after purchasing a course have unlocked all lessons automatically? Video previews on non purchased courses seems it doesn’t work? Am I right?

Thanks for taking an interest! If there are many courses added the menu will be in the center, you can always check with our support team if this can be improved and changed. They will be happy to help.

The order of the Courses can be set within the admin panel so this is for sure possible to add. Once you purchase a course you will get the lessons unlocked yes.

The video preview has been reported so it will for sure be fixed on the demo, on our testing installation everything is working as intended so this is only related to the demo.

After you update the theme all of the bundled plugins with available updates should be listed in Appearance > Install Plugins.

I am receiving several error messages on the front-end of my website after updating to PHP 8.0. Even when I downgraded back to 7.4 they are still displaying and won’t go away. This is not ideal as the warnings are displaying on the front-end and are visible for my customers. Have the Academist theme and plugins not been updated for PHP 8.0 and higher?

Please check if you have updated the theme and its plugins to the latest version listed in change log.

To update theme and bundled plugins please follow instructions from this article – How To Update A WordPress Theme And Plugins. After you update the theme all of the bundled plugins with available updates should be listed in Appearance > Install Plugins.

Is it possible to remove the “apply now” button on the course page? I want to remove this action on some course pages, not all course pages.

Hello, its been 10 days since I asked for support with a ticket and Im still without a solution. Can anybody help me??
