We purchased this theme to save a clients website that went down and had a old version of the theme. But even after uploading the new theme we can get into backend.
I assume this theme is not compatible with php 8?

Yes, you might want to lower the php version to version 7+, because right now, some plugin doesn’t support php 8+ very well, even the WordPress core still in beta support for php 8.0 https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/references/php-compatibility-and-wordpress-versions/

Our hosting company only allows php 8 and php 8.1 since Nov last year. So unfortunately we cant set lower.
I’ve disabled all plugins – so plugins is not the issue. Your theme is not php 8 compatible it seems? Can you confirm, and let us know when it will be?

Yes the theme doesn’t support the php version 8++ right now because of the custom option tree plugin inside the theme.
if you still want to force to use the php version 8++, you might want to download the plugin in here https://wordpress.org/plugins/option-tree/ , extract it and replace the option-tree folder inside of this theme with these extracted plugin folde & file.
but please note, some of the function will not run properly in the php version 8++

Try to update the theme to the newer version, or if you dont want lose any customization in your theme, you can download the update and try to replace this files jquery.nav.js inside your js folder(inside the alamak theme folder) in your site with the one from the new updated theme.

Great, thanks. I was able to update the theme and the problem is fixed. One last question. I know you have answered this in the past and I sifted though the responses but could not find the right answer. I have a video portfolio on my site with featured images, but when you click the image in the portfolio it opens up a bigger version of the picture. How can I make it so when you click the image it opens up the full post?

Due so many problem rise because of this customization snippet, now we have to delete all of it to prevent that and wont provide it anymore.
And no, you dont need to buy support extension if you don’t need more support. You only need buy the support extension if you need more support, but remember, support doesnt included customization.
I’m trying to experience this theme through Chrome in Video Background mode, and it doesn’t seem to be loading the video at all. Neither in Home Video or Home YouTube. Perhaps my browser settings need tweaking? I’m a little confused because the theme seems to operate properly in Microsoft Edge.
One other question, do we have the ability to overlay a pattern for a dot matrix or scanline effect on those header videos? I hope I’m describing that correctly.

1. For video background, there is new policy for autoplay video, thats why it not working fine in chrome. But there will be update to fix this soon.
For youtube video, it was working fine here. What version did you use to preview? Can you try to delete all the browser cache first when viewing it?

Hi! Since a recent Chrome update there seems to be an issue with the Video Background. The video does not auto play and it stays frozen on the first frame. I think the issue is somewhere within the BigVideo code because I found a link that explains the same problem (https://github.com/dfcb/BigVideo.js/issues/186). This guy solved it by adding a “mute” code, but I have no idea how on which file or which line should I add that on the Alamak theme. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Im afraid not, there is no options to do that. But you can insert the instagram feed in some section ( eg. about section ) by using the plugin that support shortcode. So you can display the instagram feed inside those section.

I’m very interested in buying your Alamak theme in its “Video Background” version, it’s amazing and we like it a lot, but before, the end customer of the web asks me about some things that I’m not clear about. Do you mind clarifying me?
First of all to know if in the slider, you can make the title “linkable” and add icons of your social networks, also linkable and if the whole video can be all a click zone.
If the background is compatible, apart from YouTube videos, such as videos hosted on the website itself or a common slider type image.
If the calendar can load a “Google Calendar”
If the icons of social networks, can be placed in the header.
And if the background videos can be autoplayed on IOS devices, because for example, on the iPhone these elements give problems.

1. Yes you can make the title linkable, but its gonna need you to insert the html tag there. And no, you can no’t add social network icon there and you can not make the whole video clickable.
2. Yes, you can use video that hosted in your site, as long it was using h264 codec (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC) so it will be play in all browser. Or you can use slider image.
3. No, the calendar cant use google calendar. You might need some plugin to use google calendar like this https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-calendar-events/ but we havent tested it yet, so im not sure if it compatible or not.
4. No, you can not insert social networks on header without custom works.

The slider height is depend on the slider content(text). You can reduce it by using less text or reduce the padding for the slider content using custom css.

All my VIMEO videos that were used don’t work anymore in the portfolio section. Last time I’ve checked, like 2-3 months ago, everything was working fine… Any idea what is going on ? hey! I’m having trouble with adding the contact info with google maps. Even if I use the example values it returns ‘Oops! Something went wrong.

You dont need to use the shortcode if you’re not using the map at another page beside the home page. But its look like you need a google map api for that.
You can use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/api-key-for-google-maps/ and insert your google map api there.

Now I have different questions if thats okey
1. Is there a easy way to make webpage show a specific section when first opened instead of the ‘home’ section? So it will be already slid down to another section when first opened. 2. How do I delete a section that it is there by default? For example I dont want to use the section ‘our services’ but it is there as default. I dont have it under ‘Menus’ and I dont have anything under the services post either. I just couldnt get rid of it.

Well as I realized I can not delete any sections through ‘homepage custom layout’ since I use youtube video homepage. How else can I get rid of those sections that I dont want to use?
It will be easier to do , if you’re using homepage custom layout template for the homepage template.
But if you dont want to use it, you need firebug.chrome dev tool to check the id/class for that unwanted sections and use the custom css in theme options to remove that section. eg. remove the about section so you need to add css

Im not sure what you mean by that. But you can see the demo site for reference. For the video, you can see the example in 2nd portfolio(Can’t Be Saved), for the slider images you can see the 5th portfolio (No One Knows).
And you can add the detail too, try to click the icon or the view detail button at the left bottom featured images for each portfolio.

The Background Video homepage does not show the video on Safari or FireFox (MAC)... But I see it in Chrome. This is both on my site & your demo.

Try to install flash player plugin first because the video background still need flash player for that. But there is some known error in safari and for now there is no solution to fix that except change it into youtube background.

Another issue: I want the portfolio section on an extra page and not on homepage layout. I chosed the homepage custom layout. That works. But due to permalink on Portfolio items the list is shown but doesn’ t open the whole portfolio text. Also the slider on top of page is empty. If I use the Homepage Slider Layout the slider is shown, but also the portfolio section that I want to show on another page. Please help! I don’ t understand this issue…
