Widen the site not possible?
in several comments you said that it is possible to stretch the whole site to more than 940px by editing the CSS.
In your documentation you find this line of CSS:
margin: 0 auto;
max-width: 1170px !important;
This is mentioned here:
If i do it like recommended it produces a kind of “boxed layout”
before you ask: of course we have choosen a “wide layout-Option” in the theme-settings.
Even if we copy all settings from a dummy-testarea it still looks like this:
If i remove that line of CSS it looks like it should be:
The sreenshots show an !!! exact !! 1:1 copy from your dummy-content (homeversion 16)
So please let me know ho i can stretch our site to a more contemporary width without strange sideeffects.

Ok, we looked around a bit in your themes files and it seems that your documentations is wrong.
There are more places than only this one you have to edit.
And as far as i can overwiew that issue it looks like the theme looses its responsive-feature if you widen it.
But maybe i just dont find the right trick.
It would be fine if you could clearify that and i am sure that even other users and potential buyers would be very happy to find that Avada stays responsive – even if you widen it.

Yes it is possible, its a customization though
Widening the site is not a theme option. That link you found in our knowledgebase is simply a start to get it going. You will see at the bottom of that post it tells you its a customization that falls outside of what we can provide.
We are going to be adding more options to choose wider settings, when we do that it will be a simple theme option. Until then, its a customization.
Again, you are welcome to post this on our support forum where we handle support. Several of our users have already widened the site width and also have posted about it in the forum. Use the search feature to see if you can find the posts, or create a new posts and see if any of them can chime in and help you.
I know that it is a customization and i have enogh knowledge in PHP / CSS & HTML to do most common things.
I dont want you to tell me what exactly to do – pointing out the correct direction is enogh.
But please – do not point into the wrong direction!
And disinformation or keeping information secret is not the best way to produce a good reputation.
How To Widen Your Total Site Width
This varies depending on boxed or wide mode. Copy the CSS and enter it in the CSS field in theme options, you can change the width to your own needs. See below.
If you are using wide more, enter this CSS in the CSS field in theme options

The note in the footer just states that you are responsible for maintain it in the future (eg using a child theme )”
Thats all. And it does not say that you have to do more than the things above!!!

What are you talking about top secret? Why in the world would we keep something secret from users? If I had the written out instruction, I would certainly give it to you. Why would I want to sit here and waste me time? You are completely misunderstanding this. I never pointed you to wrong information. I pointed you to our support forum, which is where we provide support, yet you fail to follow those directions.
Please read the bottom of that KB post you keep linking to. It clearly tells you that its a customization and we do not provide support for it.
As I said before and will say it again, what you are asking is a customization, we do not provide support for customizations so you would have to do it on your own. If you are familiar with CSS, HTML, PHP as you say, then it should be an easy thing.
Also as I mentioned before, you can post on our support forum and our team might be able to direct you if you have a specific question.

You can insert articles by category anywhere in the page or post content field, that is not an issue. However, the only slider that can pull articles is the flexslider shortcode, which you can see an example of on this page, http://theme-fusion.com/avada/home-blog-style/
So yes both can be done, for the slider you will need to use the flexslider shortcode.
Thank you for the above answer. Do you possibly have an example of a home page set up as a magazine/newspaper style? We really need a theme that has limitless sidebars so we can match them to specific teams and schools.
No we do not at this time, however I am going to add one to our demo soon. It can be done though, no worries Basically you would use the blog and recent post shortcodes to create the layout, each one has several different design options, and can pull all categories or just one or a few.

I tried a bit with firebug on your demo – but did not find a way.
And according to a video i saw there is no option in the themesettings and no options with the fusion-shortcode!

1. You could make the carousel larger, but that is a customization you would need to do. You need to edit a few things to achieve that. Unfortunately that is not something we can provide for support, you would need to handle that after purchase. However, if you do purchase the theme and post on our forum, we can try to point you in the right direction if you have questions.
2. NextGen does work, we ourselves are not having issues with it, it works fine with Avada. However, there are two users who posted about it, one of which has not bought the theme. We will be taking a look at the users site to see where the conflict lies, and I assure you if something needs fixed, we will fix it as we always do. This is software, and there could be numerous factors that are causing that for them. It works for us and there are no other reports on our forum about it, so its most likely a localized issue. We would never leave an issue like that and we take care of our users, and also thoroughly test popular plugins to ensure compatibility.

There is not a built in feature for a private area for user to upload word files and be able to view them. However, you should look for a plugin that has that type of feature, most likely there is one out there.

They are rotating for me in Chrome, Safari and Firefox. What browser are you using?

If a mild critique like the one i read from Steph (above) makes you become a censor i do not trust you and i do not believe that there will be a professionell support behind these “carefully closed walls” – called support forum.

I’m sorry but you do not understand anything about what we do. The forums have to be closed down to ONLY buyers. Every single author here who actually provides support does exactly as we do.
Would you like to know why? Because of piracy. You have no idea how much time, effort and money we put into providing support just for the users that purchase our theme. There is this little known thing called “piracy” that is all over the internet. Why would we support people who do that? Put yourself in our shoes for one second and you will understand.
And there is not an easy method to only open it for reading. We did try that, and it did not work out. Every single day dozens and dozens of users ask why they cannot post in the forum, they simply do not get it, even with large notification messages up. Besides, its our choice, and we do it for good reason, as does every other single author here.
Lastly, if you are questioning our “track record” and do not feel we are being open and honest, all you have to do is look at our history. Do you really think that we would be in the #1 spot for 16 months, selling almost 2X as many copies per week as other themes? No, we would not.
Our history and top-level support speak for themselves. No theme, no matter how good it is would stand a chance being in the top files week after week if the support was bad, or even mediocre. And we have been there for 16 months. But you go on believing what you will, but please stop wasting ours and your time

I’m not trying to pat ourselves on the back, that is not something we like to ever do. However, when someone who has never even purchased our item posts up information like that, we have no choice but to do so.

The plugin visual composer is compatibe with Avada theme?? I try to do some pages with this plugin but the options isn`t good.
Can you tell me some about this, or some plugin compatible with the sames options.
We’ve not used VC so I’m not certain what the issue is. We are building our own page builder that will be released with Avada once it is done, it will be in the coming months. I do not know of a page builder that will be a good fit, we have not used any. Are you using v3.2 or higher? If so you can use the shortcode generator which has a UI, but its not a traditional page builder.

How do I change the header images (pics of the styles) located in the backend under theme options – headers.
I have updated the images located in folders images/patterns, but they do not update in the backend.
Replacing the images is all you would need to do. Did you clear your browser cache? Clear it out completely, most likely that is it.

Hmmm, that is hard to say. Are you using Avada 3.2.1? What type of widget is in that last footer? Have you added any custom CSS that might be causing it?

Yes,just installed it yesterday. Col 1 – text, Col 2 – Avada Twitter, Col 3 – Recent Post, Col 4 – RSS. No, I have not modified the theme. I ha problem with forum. see previous comment. I am emailing the license code. The footer reacts the same no matter what I place in the footer. I have tried deactivating a few plugins but no luck yet.

I need help to remove date, author and “comments are disable” from posts. Is it possible?
Are these posts blog or portfolio? FOr blog posts, you can remove all kinds of meta data from blog posts. Go to theme options > blog and disable the author, date. 1.Is it possible to run the shop in “catalog” mode? We want to display the shop products less the ecommerce functions. Is there a switch for this?

1. We use WooCommerce for the online shop so anything that plugin can do you will be able to do. http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/ I’m not sure if it has catalog mode or not, i’ve not used that before.
2. You can import a demo shop using the theme options importer. It does not give the exact images in our shop demo, but it has the shop with other images setup and ready to use. Just make sure to install and activate WooCommerce plugin before you use the demo content importer
