1. I haven’t tested the theme with EDD plugin, so I can’t guarantee compatibility. The theme uses the latest WordPress standards so it should work just fine. All top plugins that haven’t been officially tested with the theme are working just fine with the default plugin styles: WooCommerce, BuddyPress, bbPress, etc.
2. As for any download plugin that adds a button (download) to the article, directly or via a shortcode, will work just fine.

What about typography the styling of fonts, colors, headings etc, is this customisable?

About your concerns, my theme is compatible with “Easy Google Fonts” http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/ you can choose from more than 600+ google fonts, like that you’ll be able to choose the fonts that better fits your needs. From Theme Options you can use the color picker to change the main color of the site to match your brand color. Also, you have all colors of the theme in a separate css file for easy changes.

By default the theme doesn’t have that type of functionality, so you’ll need to use a plugin for that purpose and to add the code from the plugin there. Will require some changes to the main files of the theme.

Those options aren’t available as you can see from the demo, regarding fonts: my theme is compatible with “Easy Google Fonts” http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/ you can choose from more than 600+ google fonts, like that you’ll be able to choose the fonts that better fits your needs.

The theme has a default sidebar that will be displayed in all pages / articles. Please drag & drop your widgets that you want to be displayed in the “Default Sidebar”. Also the theme comes with a plugin that will give you the possibility to add unlimited sidebars, if you don’t use it, disable / delete it.
