I have purchased your theme quite awhile ago and gave up on it because I couldn’t get much to work. I want to give it another shot. When I drag widgets over to the sidebar 1 and then go to the home page, nothing is there.

Also, the widget that you ask buyers to implement for testimonials no longer exists. The link is broken in the PDF document you have in the zip file.

Any support would be great. Check out

Never-mind I got it to work. You have to install the testimonials plugin for the footer to work at all. You might want to note that in your documentation.

Great theme as far as creativity. Could use some work as far as user interface for non-coders.

Very professional and very clean. Nice work!!

Hi Trey, thanks for the kind words and I’m really glad you handle it and are happy with it. M.

Great theme! I’m just having trouble with my Twitter, nothing is showing up for some reason. I believe I have all the correct information in the widget and I placed it in the Sidebar 1 area. Any ideas?

did you follow instructions from Help.pdf file? Set up everything correctly. It should work unless you entered something wrong. Maybe you can contact me via my profile page and send me WP admin access so I can take a look.

Cheers, M.

Hi. Like the theme, but have a few questions.

1 – I’m using WordPress 3.1.2. and on the Portfolio page, ALL categories of posts are being displayed. So it’s effectively just another Blog page. I’m sure that’s not the desired effect. And yes, before you ask – I’ve reviewed both help files and every post in this forum. Everything is set up as instructed.

2 – Also, shouldn’t the blog page EXCLUDE the Portfolio posts? As there is an entire page dedicated to this it would make sense to do so.

3 – Finally, in several forum replies you suggest editing the PSD files to create custom graphics. The package I bought & downloaded just a few days ago contains only entire page PSDs and one Tab PSD . Was that your intention, or is my package missing some PSDs of individual graphic elements?

Thanks – Ken

Hi Ken,

1 – This is how portfolio page should look like according to Screenshots

2 – No, please refer to Screenshot and Live preview

3 – The zip file should contain 13 PSD files, if not please contact Envato support.

1 & 2. Ok, so yes, according to the live preview the Portfolio page does NOT show regular blog posts, and the Blog page does not appear to be showing Portfolio posts. However, in my installation, (as I stated) the Portfolio page IS showing regular blog posts, and the Blog page IS showing Portfolio posts. Since MY site is not working like YOUR demo site, I wonder if you could show me what I need to do to fix this. Bear in mind, I have read and followed ALL setup instructions in the help files, and have read every post in this forum.

3. Ok, I have plenty of PSDs. Just none I can use. (would be SO much easier if the individual graphic elements were already separated.) Oh well, guess I’ll just have to hire someone. This $35 theme is quickly becoming a $500 investment. :(

Hey Ken, can you please send me the link to your current site? Thanks.

I’ve taken care of the posts showing up in the wrong places – something that was fairly easy, but not in the documentation. :)

Trying to get Testimonials to look like your demo site – wp-testimonials plugin was updated so it uses BLOCKQUOTES instead of text now.

Can you send the necessary CSS code for this? The code supplied by the plugin author doesn’t apply to this theme.

Hi kenivey, this is the testimonials CSS :

/* testimonials */ #testimonials {margin:0 auto 40px auto; width:958px; background:#f2f2f2; border:1px solid #e0e0df;} #testimonials_inner {margin:10px; padding:20px; width:898px; background:#f8f7f7; border:1px solid #ececec;} #testimonials_inner p.intro{ color:#d05606; font-weight:bold; font-size:1.4em;} #testimonials_inner h4{ padding:20px 0; font-family:"Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size:2.6em; color:#666; font-weight:normal; font-style:italic; line-height:1.4em;} #testimonials_inner a.all { display:block; width:192px; background:#f2f2f2; border:1px solid #e0e0e0; color:#6c6c6c; font-size:1.2em; padding:5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px;} #testimonials_inner a.all:hover { display:block; width:192px; background:#fff; border:1px solid #e0e0e0; color:#6c6c6c; font-size:1.2em; padding:5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px;} #testimonials_inner p.sig{ float:right; padding:0 20px 0 0;} #testimonials_inner p.sig span{ font-size:1.1em; font-style:italic; color:#666;} #testimonials_inner a.logo {float:right; width:162px; height:16px; display:block; background: transparent url(images/logo_testimonials.png) no-repeat; text-indent:-9999px; overflow:hidden;} #testimonials div.text, .center_right #sfstest-page .text { padding:20px 0; font-family:"Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size:2.2em; color:#666; font-weight:normal; font-style:italic; line-height:1.3em; margin: -10px 0; } #testimonials div.client, .center_right #sfstest-page .client { text-align: left; float: none; font-size: 1.4em; margin-bottom: 15px; }

Ok, so I’ve replaced the css – but the correct css was already in the theme. Upon further investigation, I noted your testimonial (in the demo) is formatted as text while mine is formatted as a blockquote which is apparently the problem.

As there is no control of this via the plugin or theme, I’m not sure what to do.

My site is at

I’m thinking about purchasing this. I just want to know how easy or difficult is it to add pages which I will definitely need. Also, I would like to know if i can change the blue background to another color.

This theme, like all of my themes, come with a Help PDF file that explains everything in detail. You shouldn’t have any problems with setting it up and making changes. Besides that you have the item discussion here and a FAQ section.

Changing bg color is not a problem as well. You’ll need to change the colors in PS first and export new graphics, replace with existing ones and that’s it.

This theme is not as well made as it could be. It relies on plugins, and not plugins that are hard to replace with some basic php coding (recent comments, recent posts, twitter feed, footer advertisements).

I’m not completely bashing it – but understand it will not only be design customization if you are purchasing it to save time. You will have to adjust code that you shouldn’t have to adjust.

@Segen – Polish it and take it from “Enough to get paid for in the marketplace” to something that is more turn-key and intuitive for novice purchasers. This will make it more valuable to agencies that purchase to save time / cost for clients – they won’t have to fix stuff.

Suggestions: - Make bottom tabbed content pull from 4 set posts for the client to easily customize and adjust. (currently is only static html content) - Make parts like the static h2 subtitle a setting. More than web design companies will use the theme. - Build in plugins and give credit rather than force user to download them for the theme to work.

Fix those and I’ll give you 4 stars, rather than 3. Sorry for being harsh, but people need to know this kind of stuff before they spend $35.

Thanks for your suggestions! Cheers, M.

Just trying to help! It really is a great looking theme. I’m sure you’ll upgrade it and make it even better.

Hi Segen I buy this theme and want to how can I add slider on header where header_images.png is placed ?

In that case you need to, well, change the header image :) You can do that through WP admin. I hope I understood you correctly.

Yes you understood right but I mean a flash banner or other format banner I didn’t went only a photo I want a dynamic banner :D

Well, I’m not sure about that. Supported formats are for images only but you can alway use animated gif instead ;)

Hi Segen,

Thanks for your template, I replaced the banner with slideshow baner, and now the slider is not working. I used All-In-One Slide show:

You might check the result here:

any help would be appreciate

Thanks a lot

Hi Nilou, thanks for the purchase!

I’m viewing the site in Safari and the slider works. I can’t offer you more support when you implemented a third-party slider script. I can only support the code and scripts I originally created for this theme.

Hope you understand. Cheers, M.

My home page slider stopped working. I updated to WP 3 .2 I wonder if updating caused the slider to stop working.

Anyone care to give me some direction? Thanks.

Can’t be 100% sure but yes, that could cause the issue. Try WP 3 .1 as specified in item description and let me know.

my cats are showing on portfolio page.. as default anybody know how to fix it..thanks

The left sidebar is hard-coded into the single.php file. First of all it makes no sense to have a “sidebar” included in that file, and second it makes it difficult to create new page templates with a consistent look. Now I have to create widget positions that should of already been there.

Also, why are plugins required to make certain areas work? I’m so confused why authors are doing this, what are the chances your customers will want to use the EXACT same plugins as you? Very slim. Now I have to remove them from the template and add widget positions.

And finally, you are not the only one doing this, but please, please, I beg you, stop using timthumb.

Thanks for your advice skyer2000!

WordPress Failure Notice – That’s all I get and no notation of how to fix that issue anywhere.

Hello Dremmlin, that must be a Wordpress issue, please check your WP and server settings or permissions. Cheers.

Hey Segen,

having some problems with the theme. My slider is not working and I also have problems with the thumbs on the portfolio page.

I have scanned through all the comments and can’t find anything that I am doing wrong in my installation. Please let me know how to get this resolved.

By the look of the site you linked to all I can see that the slider is not working. What the problem is I cannot tell by just looking at the site, I guess you know that ;)

I can assume that some JS’s are not loading or maybe you activated some plugins which are causing this issue or maybe you’re running WP version above the specified 3.1.

Hope I helped.

Thanks, that helped. I have downgraded to 3.1 and will look at the thumbs a little later today.

For now I have an issue with the blog, before I go and break it (which is what I would probably do all on my own) have a look at the blog section of the site. I have multiple subcategories and it seems to overlap in the side bar. Is this a CSS issue or do I need to play with the sidebar.php a bit?

I would also like to “limit” the display to just “blog” or just “portfolio” for the various pages.

Thanks again for the support and a great theme

Subcategories are not supported this is why the sidebar breaks, I guess you’d have to adjust it with CSS . For limiting the view for just Blog or Portfolio pages you’d need to modify the PHP code. This is customization work that doesn’t fall under support for this theme so I won’t be able to assist you with that. I hope you understand.

Cool, will google a little more.

The thumbnails are still not working after the downgrade? Do i need to install any aditional plugins to get that to work?

Nope, no additional plugin. Theme works fine so I can’t debug what you’re doing over there but maybe a fresh install and following instructions might solve the problem.

Thanks again for the reply…

Think I am slowly getting there. Bloody spelling mistake got me back for a short while. Thanks for the patients.

If you look at the portfolio page now you will see that it is working correctly, however the thumb image is not displayed. See extract from the generated code for the portfolio page. Why is the thumb still not displaying? Sample

Hey I’m getting a: Fatal error: Call to undefined function sfstst_onerandom() in D:\hosting\#######\html\wp-content\themes\BVD\index.php on line 130 in the footer of my home page. My footer works fine on the other pages. Any suggestions? (the #’s are actual numbers)

It doesnt seem that the theme is compatible with 3.3

WP 3 .1

The theme is having issue with word press 3.3, because of the jquery. You can override the default jQuery version called by WordPress .

In your theme’s function.php file, Paste this code:

if( !is_admin()){ wp_deregister_script(‘jquery’); wp_register_script(‘jquery’, (“”), false, ‘1.8.6’); wp_enqueue_script(‘jquery’); }

It seems to be working now :)

Thanks jazeeljabbar, will update to WP 3 .3 next year ;)
