What are the proper dimensions for Featured Images? I’m using text on some of my photos, so I don’t want them to get cropped in the post.
The default size is 710×300, and 950×300 if you don’t use any content in your slide.
I’m having some troubles with the side bar. On my homepage, I’d like to use only one sidebar (cl_bar). I put some stuff on the other sidebar, on the widgets menu, because I want to use this sidebar on other single pages (like post) – but even though it does not appear on the home page, it strangely add an empty area (something like 50px) between the portfolio thumb and the sidebar that i want to use. What’s going on? How can i fix it?
That’s very strange. Can you please try to create a new Sidebar and use that one instead?
Yes, that’s strange. How do I create a new sidebar?
You can manage your Sidebars in Appearance – Creativelife – Sidebars.
I am in love with the theme. Thanks for making this.
I do have one question- don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if there’s an error.
I created a portfolio. Set the portfolio items as videos. I included the video links in the video url… not the shortened one.
However, when you click on it, my video is not appearing.
After I publish it and try to view the post I get an error (404) not found..
Why can’t I successfully add the YouTube vids? Thanks!
That’s nice to hear This is a common WordPress issue, and extremely easy to fix. All you have to do is navigate to Settings – Permalinks and save your options.
Disregard previous comment. Somehow, I fixed it. I’m thinking it had something to do with the Permalinks.
Exactly Please, don’t hesitate to ask if you have more questions.
I’ve been using this theme for over a year now and I love it, I recently changed my site and have been using other parts of the theme that I didn’t use as much before and they are great.
My question is , How do you add an editor to the portfolio page type? I’ve done it before and usually would go to functions.php and then add editor to the args array of the post type, but its already there so I’m assuming I am looking in the wrong place.
2nd question is, I no longer can change the background of each post/page, was this changed in the update or is just something missing in my theme? I am currently using 2.2
1) The editor visibility is configured in “includes/metabox/metabox.php”.
2) This feature is not included by default, however it is possible to set a global background image in Appearance – Creativelife – Styling.
I have a client who really likes this theme. Two questions first.
1) Is the layout builder drag/drop, or widgetized? Is it versatile enough to accommodate a wide variety of configurations.
2) Are the color choices fixed like those in the demo sidebar or unlimited.
1) It is versatile enough to create columns based layouts, using simple Shortcodes. The Home’s content is managed through Widgets.
2) No, no fixed colors. All theme’s colors can be chosen through Color Pickers. The themes on the Live Preview are examples of what you can achieve using the theme’s Control Panel.
Hey! There is a problem with my portfolio items. i can attach and embed images, but only when i create an item. when i edit an item the second time, hitting the add file button doesn’t work. only the domain changes to …&action=edit#. Any Clue?
That’s odd. Please, make sure to use a recent version of the theme if you’re using WordPress 3.5+.
we use 2.2
The issue is very probably related to your WordPress installation. You can try disable all currently active Plugins and see if it helps.
I have a portfolio item that wont display its featured item image. In the theme forest live example site, how did you get the portfolio items to show a different sized thumbnail picture (the one that scrolls up on mouseover) than the picture in the actual post (which is much larger)? For instance, I’m looking at the first item in portfolio which is a twitter image. How do I achieve this? If it helps, I’ve set settings > media all to 0’s to prevent wordpress from generating multiple sized images from each image I upload. Could this be the issue?
Yes, it could be. The theme needs different sized images, especially for the Portfolio.
Yup that was it. Thanks.
In the example here in Themeforest, there is a flickr widget at the bottom of the page. Any way to populate that with Instagram instead?
No, not at the moment. Sorry.
Ok. For anyone looking for instagram functionality, you can always use IFTTT to automatically populate your Flickr account with new instagram posts. So in turn, this theme will then show all your instagram photos! There’s always a work around
I’m working on this theme for a client but for some reason the opacity slider for the background color is not working (in theme options)
Any suggestions for changing it manually?
I’m trying to apply a widget to my homepage and it shows two of each one that I apply. How do I fix this?
That’s very odd. Can you please try to remove your Widgets and add them again?
Tried a tonne of times.. Doesnt fix it.
Can you try to re-create the page used as Homepage? Thank you.
A few simple things I need help with:
1. I set up new portfolio page, added 3 video format items with a featured image. It looks great, but when you actually click on each of them they go to 404.
2. All my pages (and I have only set up a home and two other pages so far!) all load very slow. Something is hanging. Any clues?
1) This is a common WordPress issue, but easily fixable. All you have to do is head over Settings – Permalinks and save your settings.
2) That’s very odd. Are you using any plugin? Can you please try to de-activate them? Thanks.
Somehow, this line keeps ending up in my themes\creativelife\index.php file:
I happens periodically. I’ll download index.php via ftp client, erase the line (it’s always the first line in the file), then re-upload the clean index.php. Any thoughts on how this is being done? No-one has admin access but me, and my pw has never been given out.
I should note that each time this happens, the url is different. It’s not always the one posted above.
Also, how would I go about making a custom 404 page? Which file in the template do I need to edit? Thanks.
1) I’m sorry, but we are unable to provide support in case the theme’s files (or the files of your WordPress installation) have been modified.
2) You can simply edit the theme’s file named “404.php”.
I just want to say this LOOKS like a great theme!
Anyway, I’m a fledgling websmith, and have recently taken over at a group whose guy is no longer with us. I have been going through his files, and noticed this wordpress theme among others. I was trying to use it on my server before taking it live. I got the homepage to work (sorta). Slider didn’t work, even with checking local jQuery option. Oh well, replaced the code with a Nivo slider.
But, here’s a big issue… any time I try to add another page with a template other than “Homepage”, my homepage disappears, all except for header, social bar, and footer. I have disabled all plugins except for what i need, to no avail. Any help?
Apologies, I meant to include that it is version 1.8
Embarrassing, but nevermind… the more i close, open and refresh, the more features seem to come on…

Is it possible to re-order the front-page slide-show items? Let’s say I have 6 items, but I want the 4th one to go 1st from now on. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Figured it out. Just drag the slide on the right side
Hi, will the slider play a SWF? interactive PDF?
The theme’s Slider supports images and videos only.
