I have one issue with the template. After installation I tried to create the main page; ok it’s done, but the location’s map didn’t show up.
I followed the installation steps as the documentation says, but I can’t activate the map in main page neither in the item page.

some pre-sales questions:
Can you limit the number of categories when users create a listing?
Do news articles posts appear in all cities/locations?
Can you make the directory with country-level location instead of city?
do people have the ability to upgrade from free listing to paid at anytime? do you have an upgrade button for them to do so?
do your RSS feed include new and updated listings?
Thanks for your message. Please see my comments below:
1. This is not possible as we use standard Wordpress categories.
2. No, you have to assign it to a specific location
4. Yes, they can do it in the Easy admin
5. We haven’t done anything special to RSS, it’s standard Wordpress functionality there.
I recently purchased the theme Directory and am completing a build for a client and recently saw an advertisement for Business Finder. I think that it might be a better fit but am not sure. Can you tell me what the major differences between the themes are?
The site I am building is for a very small shopping center with 35 stores, mixed with retail dining and professional services. The current site is Ridgewoodshoppingcenter.com the development site is only available by IP address.
Any recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated. I have been working with WordPress and frameworks for the last three years and honestly need to tell you that this system is the best I have seen and the only system that I would deploy for a directory of businesses or the like. In my 15 years of being in this industry I have worked on hundreds of sites for companies and organizations that need a system like this and yours is incredible. Thank you.
PS I tried submitting this on your website but the pop-up form gave me an captcha error multiple times.
Thanks for your message. Business finder is based on Directory theme. It has a different design and bit more features. For a full list of features please check business finder description page here on themeforest.
Can you have in homepage some item for esach category (e.g. featured)
Sorry this is not possible by default.
Your theme are very useful for me, but before I buy it can you provide us some websites who have use this theme and are interesting ?
Please check the following page, it’s about Business finder theme http://support.ait-themes.com/discussion/13699/best-business-finder-sites#Item_15, you can also find a showcase gallery on our facebook page.
I’ve a pre-sales question.
I need to use this template for wedding services and I would like let people (bands for example) uploading their audio and video you tube url during the registration process. Is it possible?
You can extend item fields pretty easily, please check the following link for more details: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-edit-custom-type/?theme=directory-wordpress-theme
Hi thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I don’t think I have the knowledge to modify the file properly to let the user upload a file and show it in the front end with a player…
I suggest you to hire a local web designer to help you with modifications.
i uploaded the template but i get an error
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Query::is_main_query() in /home/kouji/public_html/wp-content/themes/directory/functions/directory.php on line 7
Is it possible to search items per checkbox and list instead of with free textfields? I would like my user to be limited in its search choices.
Lots of thanks,
Sorry this option is not available by default. Thanks.
I am going through a setup and I like how you’ve linked the Item Category “Automotive” to the Main Menu. I’d like to do that with more Item Categories. Can you please share how you did that? I don’t see Item Categories available as a selection from Appearance>Menus.
Very nice directory with lots of features, can tell a lot of work gone into.
Have considered buying and using on one of our future portals. The only thing that has been holding me back is “no driving directions”?
Cannot seem to locate example? See map for listings but clicking on marker does nothing and no form for driving directions. Very important these days since 70% of our traffic seems to be mobile.
Am I just blind
Thanks for your message. Driving directions are not implemented by default, most mobile phones do that automatically without any further development.
I hate to say it, but you are wrong. The current directory (GEO) we use has built-in driving directions and one of the most used features by mobile users.
They simply enter in their current address and in return presented with “driving directions”.
With an answer like you provided, I can tell it best for us to stay away. You are out of touch with mobile.
Very useful recommendations:
1. On business listings to have for owners to list their social media accounts like Facebook page, Twitter username, Pinterest account, Linkedin acccount etc.. (you got the point)
3. Ability to add more account types.
4. Ability to add custom fields on business page.
that’s all for now
Thanks for the message. You can extend item fields pretty easily, please check the following link for more details: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-edit-custom-type/?theme=directory-wordpress-theme
You have a nice directory theme here.
I have a question:
when my client choose for different packages: – Directory Basic (Free), Standard, Premium, Premium 2 and Extra ? What are the difference in terms of services and features for each of them?
You can configure what will each individual package include from the admin panel.
Hi Thanks for your reply. I have viewed your given link. But that does not answer my question. Actually what i meant is if my fren wants to configure his business directory website , and he wants to differentiate for the basic (free) with the premium account, example: Basic (free) account only can post photos and type in the details BUT premium can do extra stuff like example: can help the co to sell for discount coupon or promotions news. Basically, he needs to know what are the EXACT difference that he can do with BASIC (Free) and premium account?? Can he even add a weekly countdown groupon code for one of his business directory client?
You can configure what features will BASIC and what will PREMIUM account include in the admin panel. You can also extend item fields pretty easily, please check the following link for more details: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-edit-custom-type/?theme=directory-wordpress-theme
Does it run on WP 3.7.1? Import data not working, get:
Failed to import post tag
Failed to import post tag …..
Checked your support forum and all your solutions seem to be “your theme is not active, re-install & activate” done this plenty of times and still can’t upload default data?
You can to type in all locations manually or use import plugin to upload a full list automatically.
You have full control over locations. You can add your own etc.
How can I do that? Is there a plugin to make something like that? Can I change the dropdown for location to choose a city just after selecting a state for example?
I bought the license for this theme, I modified the file search and I would suggest a new parameter for the next update.
When viewing the search results have the possibility to include advertising “Google Adsense” in a certain number of records.
Why in the demo I can not see anything about frontend users?
Hi, i have a simple question for pre-sales.
I have tried your theme but i need for my customer the chance to add a image gallery
For example if you go to: http://preview.ait-themes.com/directory/wp1/item/car-pro/
u see you have only 1 image is it possible to have/put a gallery in description? if yes how? if i must use a plugin can you suggest one?
Thanks a lot
Image gallery is implemented in Business Finder theme if the design suits you. You can extend item fields pretty easily, please check the following link for more details: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-edit-custom-type/?theme=directory-wordpress-theme
Lot of nice and handy features are already included. You can take our theme as a good base and build on top of that to create your own unique portal.
ok thanks i will check it out
I like this theme and I want to buy it. I have a question.
I want to create a directory listing site similar to Zocdoc (minus the appointment booking feature.)
The main features I want is the maps in each city page showing the location entry of each item on that page.
If this is not on the basic layout of the theme, I would appreciate pointers on how to manipulate the theme to do this. I have customized several WordPress themes before.
You can link to city pages and show only items from the particular location. That’s doable.
Any plans to add a “favorites” button so users can create a list of favorite listings?
Sorry no close plans for that. Thanks.
There has been a Major update WordPress 3.8 “Parker”, 12th of December. I was wondering if the theme tested on 3.8 allready?
Yes theme is compatible with Wordpress 3.8, feel free to upgrade.
