I’m not sure which version you’re using, but Elliot theme is compatible with WordPress 5. It works with Gutenberg editor, but if you have any problems try installing Classic Editor plugin which should bring old editor back.

if you can’t replicate this issue on our demo site and since we haven’t had this issue reported so far I would advise you that you deactivate your plugins and undo any modifications you may done.
If you experience that issue on the front page I would suggest that you use [pukka_posts] shortcode instead of “custom category” page template. (more shortcode info you can find in our documentation file)

Hi! First, congratulation to one of the most beautiful themes I’ve seen yet! Anyhow, I have some presale questions. I am planning an authors blog mainly about politics. Some studies, lot of comments and links to other articles from newspapers, donation button, etc. Sadly very few pictures, but this lies in the nature of things. All about typography an readability. I can imagine that your templates will work fine in this respect, even without sliders and photos. Now my questions.
1) Due to lack of photos icons would be very useful to pimp up the texts. I don’t see any in your preview – are there any available?
2) I will have “read more” buttons on the blog page, leading to the posts. Can the alignment of the buttons be configured? I would pretty much prefer them to be left aligned in the single column blog layout.
3) When the post is an excerpt of a linked site, it would come very user-friendly, if one had a direct link button in the same style and at the same place as the “read more” botton. Then one could open a blog post with an “read more” button and a new window with the linked article with a “more at” button. Very convenient for the reader, and very consistent design and GUI. Of course this would only make sense, when the full excerpt of the linked website is shown on the blog page, so it might be tricky to implement this feature. Is there any way to do it?
4) Can the different sections shown in your preview be combined in the same page (e.g. Slider as Header on top, followed by elements, followed by single column blog layout)?
5) Do you provide a child theme?

1) I’m not sure if I understand your question, on which kind of icons do you exactly mean? Elliot has a “Dropcap” shortcode which you can use (if that’s what you mean): http://prntscr.com/ddok57
2) Currently there is no setting which will configure this, but it’s a simple CSS tweak with which our support staff can help you out.
3) I’m not sure if I understand you correctly, but Elliot supports “link” post format. If you enter a post and set it’s post format to “link” then every it’s title and featured image” button is linked to that external link.

4) Yes, Visual Composer plugin comes bundled with the theme, so you can make layout changes easily.

Hi, I bought a Elliot theme but when I try to download the file I discover that the file have a virus and I can´t open the file. I need you help.

all files are reviewed by ThemeForest review team so there is no possibility that any file contains a virus or any kind of suspicious code. Also, we are ThemeForest author for over 2 years and we never had such an issue reported.
Also, we have couple tickets opened by people who recently bought Elliot theme and they all installed it without a problem. The file you’ve downloaded should be a zip archive and you should be able to open it on any operating system.
I see now that you’ve opened a support ticket, it’s answered and please provide more information to our support staff.

1) I suppose you want to add sharing icons? If so, then it’s a simple theme modification with which we can certainly help you.
2) You can make a page template for home page and for categories as well. There is a “full width” page template available which you can use.
3) There is a “link post format” which already has the functionality implemented (if I understood you correctly). On the masonry page see “Sandwiches around the world” post.

There is a link post format which can be used for that purpose (and every post could have a different link). Implementing this in “masonry” layout is an easy modification, you would just need to open a ticket with our support system and our support will provide you necessary modification.

just switching position of menu icon and logo is a simple CSS tweak (for which we could share you CSS snippet right away). Moving “side menu” to slide in from the right, instead from the left, is would require additional CSS modification, but you could open a support ticket and our support staff would certainly help you with that.

I really want 2 grid blocks per row on my blog page. I set all presets to two posts per row, but it shows up as three per row every time. Do you know what I am doing wrong? Could you direct me in the right direction to resolve this?

those settings should be made in Theme Settings -> Archive section, but if you’re using a page template (for instance “Custom category”) then there is a panel (on “page edit” screen) which holds settings for that page in particular.

I will need to have people to subscribe to my blog and the ability to collect their email in the process. Do you have a plugin or feature to accomplish this task?
As my blog grows, the interface my need some adjustments. After a year or two of publishing articles, can I change from personal to magazine?

we don’t have a built in functionality for collecting emails, but I’ve seen people using plugins which adds it with Elliot theme without a problem. Usually, they add a widget which nicely fits in the theme, but if it turns out that there is any styling issue we can help you with that (just open a support ticket).
Changing between demos (“personal” and “magazine”) is done by just changing Theme settings, so you can do it any time you want (and gradually if you want).

Hello, I am trying to set up my home page and blog pages and I am running into some problems. For my homepage I am using the Hero image, and would like to show my recent posts in the Wide format with Sidebar. I have the sidebar working but it doesn’t seem to generate my posts, and the shortcode provided in the documentation doesn’t seem to work. I just get a gray box that won’t load the test post. I have two categories, but would like the most recent posts from any category to show on the landing page. Also, is there any way to adjust how posts are displayed by category? I would greatly appreciate your help in this, thank you!

Hi, I am trying to get support for this theme but when I submit a ticket, it’s saying my license number is not valid and I can’t submit a support ticket. That can’t be right since it expires in July 2016.
I’d like some advice on changing the blog layout to Grid, but more importantly, need to get access to the support that accompanies the license I purchased.

that is common issue, for which you can find solution on “support tab, but in short:
Unpack the archive you’ve downloaded from ThemeForest, besides theme it contains documentation, plugins which are used and etc.
You can find “elliot.zip” file in “Theme Files” sub-folder, and that’s the file which you should use for installation.

Elliot has basic WooCommerce support. That means that is tested with WooCommerce and some basic adjustments are made so it fit nicely, but majority of CSS used is still from WooCommerce
If we receive more requests like this, we’ll further style WooComm elements so everything looks like part of the Elliot theme.

I am not sure how to update the Visual Composer plugin. If I delete the pre-packaged version then reinstall it is still at 4.9.2, but the current version is 4.10. If I click the update notification it takes me to CodeCanyon but there it prompts me to pay for the update.

Hi there – Hope this is the right place for this. I’ve just installed the Elliot theme on WordPress, and I need some help setting up the slider. Basically I just want to try the “Carousel” and “Slider Stretched 2” that are in the live demo – is there a place where the shortcodes for those demo sliders are aggregated? I can’t seem to find them anywhere.

you need to create a slider first ( Appereance -> Slider manager ) and the shortcodes will generated automatically ( http://grab.by/Nvr0 ).
