What dimensions are best for image optimization?

The default sizes are best for speed and for quality. If all you want to do is slim down the image size for speed then probably the following:

Entries: width: 325 height: whatever you want

Entries: width: 670 height: whatever you want

By default the theme uses the same size for the entries as the post because this way it gets cached on the users computer. So if your concern is speed on the 1st load then making the entry images smaller can help but if your viewers look at multiple pages having your entry image size the same as the post can speed things out.

But it won’t look best on certain screen sizes. If your concern is speed setting up a CDN will improve things the most.

Hi there,

The mobile menu sub items appear to have stopped working on mobile -they do not expand on touch! Any ideas?

Using a child theme: http://www.tashmina.co.uk/

Thanks

Hi,

Yes I used this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/responsive-menu/

It’s ok, bit bloated but works well generally :) I made some CSS tweaks of my own to bring it inline with the branding.

I see – tried again and the fashionista theme does work if I tap exactly o the arrow or to the right of it. The problem I think was that the way the menu was on my theme the arrow was to the far right, therefore really tricky to tap in the sweet spot…

Let me know if you make some improvements! Going to keep using this plugin as the client actually prefers it…

Thanks!

Pat

Great! Thanks for the additonal info and I’ll see what I can do in the next update ;) It would be great to also allow people to click on the link itself not just the arrow if they want to (like I do in my Total theme).

Have a wonderful weekend Pat,

Thank you so much, amazing that was it!!! I’ve been pulling my hair out over this one, Thanks :)

Hi Author! I have a question: I want insert an header image in background to the site title. What should be the exact size?

Second question: how I can insert a backroung image in the body with infinite scroll?

When I load a big photo 1030×687 I see a worsening of quality. I dont’ no why, but the code in the post is:

Quello che non sai

What is the problem? http://www.domenicolascala.it/2016/06/07/quello-che-non-sai/

Here I need to change?

Hi,

I am looking at your site and it looks good to me. Did you fix the issue?

By the way you can go to Appearance > Customize > Image Sizes and alter all your default cropping sizes: http://wpexplorer-themes.com/fabulous/docs/altering-image-sizes-enabling-retina-support/

Hi there,

I modified the homepage a while back so that it pulls through pages with the featured image, rather than posts. Here is the site:

http://www.tashmina.co.uk/

The way it works in this site is that all artists in this website have a featured image and therefore appear on the homepage. Here is the code:

function my_get_posts( $query ) {
    if ( $query->is_home() && $query->is_main_query() ) {
        $query->set( 'post_type', array( 'page ') );
        $query->set( 'meta_key', '_thumbnail_id' );
        $query->set('orderby', 'rand');
        $query->set('posts_per_page', '100');
    }
}
add_filter( 'pre_get_posts', 'my_get_posts' );

It works great only now we want to be able to add featured images to other pages in the site for other reasons, but don’t want them to appear on the homepage. Each artist page is assigned to an ‘artist.php’ template, so I’m assuming it must be pretty straightforward to alter that function to only pull in pages with that template rather than featured image thumbnail.

After some searching on how other people have done something similar, I amended my code to the following:

function my_get_posts( $query ) {
    if ( $query->is_home() && $query->is_main_query() ) {
        $query->set( 'post_type', array( 'page ') );
        $query->set( 'meta_key', '_wp_page_template' );
        $query->set( 'meta_value', 'artist.php' );
        $query->set('orderby', 'rand');
        $query->set('posts_per_page', '100');
    }
}
add_filter( 'pre_get_posts', 'my_get_posts' );

This breaks altogether and pulls nothing through and pulls nothing through at all!

Obviously I realise that this is way beyond the scope of support of this theme as what I’m trying to do is a significant customisation already!!

But just on the off chance you can tell me how to do it easily I posted it here, as I’ve tried everything else and I’m certain it’s only a tiny amount of code…

Thanks!

Pat

Hi Pat,

Your code looks good to me, but based on your body class it looks like you may have your template inside a templates folder. Does altering the code like this work?

$query->set( 'meta_value', 'templates/artist.php' );

Or am I wrong and it’s not inside a folder?

Hi! I have a problem with “AddtoAny” plugin (for social buttons). The template split the buttons….

Can you show me the URL with the issue so I can have a look? Thanks!

Hi guys. Love the template. I use it at greatirishradioads.com However, I have one issue I was hoping you could assist with. The images that I use are blurry when viewed on mobile/tablet but fine and clear via desktop. Images are uploaded as 500px x 300px to meet the dimensions exactly.

What could the issue be? The images seem to deteriorate once uploaded and viewed via tablet/mobile. Thanks DJ

I am glad you like it!

Are you looking on a retina ready tablet? If so, then you may want to consider using a retina plugin for WordPress if you want to support that.

- AJ

Retina plugin worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip.

Hi, there were some plans to add “Load more” button for Infinite scroll 2 years age. Is there a way to do it now?

This theme only allows for infinite scroll or standard pagination – https://cl.ly/3S0w11011s2R

You can check out our newer theme “Gridster” which does use a load more button if you prefer – they are fairly similar in design and you can always disable the image in the header if you want (it’s optional) – https://themeforest.net/item/gridster-a-responsive-wordpress-blog-theme/17261014

- AJ

Hey, thanks for your reply but I don’t want to change the theme itself. I know that there is no such possibility and what it is allowing me to do because I bought it and I’m using it…is it possible in any way to change standard pagination to infinite scroll with “load more” button? A way such as intalling some plugin? Re-writing some code? anything or do you want to tell me that I have to investigate it by my own?

Are you logged into the correct account? I don’t see the “purchased” tag next to your username which is why I assumed it hadn’t been purchased yet.
