Hi SoloPine. Does your Florence theme have PHP Version 8 support? If not when do you think it will ?

Hi there, Florence should work fine with PHP 8 as long as you’re on the latest version of Florence. Cheers!

Hi there, this theme looks really lovely! Just wanted to ask if once installed, will it look exactly like in the demo out of the box so we can just edit it or do we need to set up everything?

Hi there, We’ve included the demo content so you can easily import all the demo posts and pages. Other than that, you would just need to set up a few settings via the customizer and widget. If you decide to go with Florence, we’d be happy setting up the demo site for you. Just submit a new ticket via our support site https://solopine.ticksy.com

Hello, I would like to remove the Florence’s logo image. How is that possible? Thank you.

Hi there,

Do you want to just replace the Florence logo with your own? In that case you can go to Customize > Logo and Header Settings > Upload Logo.

If you want to not show a logo at all, you can go to Customize > Additional CSS and add:

header { display:none; }

If you have any further questions, feel free to open up a ticket via our support site https://solopine.ticksy.com

Hello, Is this theme compatible with WP 5.7?

Hi there,

Yes, Florence should work just great with WordPress 5.7. If there’s ever any issues with Florence and a new WordPress update, we’ll be sure to release a theme update as soon as possible to remedy any problems :-)

Hi there, I really like your theme. We are considering to buy & use it, but I am interested – is the font in the logo free or is it possible to buy it also? My colleague really likes the font. :) Thanks!

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest! The font we used in Florence’s demo logo image is called “Beginning Yoga” and is free to use. We have a guide that goes over all of the fonts used in our demo logo images and where you can find them: https://solopine.ticksy.com/article/7992/

Please note that we also used a watercolor texture overlay on Florence’s logo image text which we purchased on Creative Market. That watercolor texture is also noted in the above article if you’re interested.

There is no place for social media in the last update. How can I change my social media links?

Hi there,

Make sure you install the required plugin “Florence Core” after you update to the latest version.

You should see a notification for this plugin at the top of your WP Dashboard. You can also go to Appearance > Install Plugins and here the plugin should be listed.

Once the plugin is installed and active, you should see the social media settings again.

Thank you. Also, blog grid photos are not aligned anymore. Do you have a solution to this?

If you updated from an earlier version than 1.5 you will have to regenerate your thumbnails. You can use the plugin called “Regenerate Thumbnails”, once installed go to Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails and click “Regenerate Thumbnails for Featured Images Only”

Hi guys! How a translate “Continue Reading” button? That is the only thing that I cant translate… my site: https://www.dia23.com.br/

Hi there,

We would highly recommend using the “Loco Translate” plugin to translate any strings within Florence. The great thing about using Loco Translate instead of manually translating them within the theme files is that, if you update the theme, you won’t have to re-translate everything again. We have a guide on how to use Loco Translate here: https://solopine.ticksy.com/article/15290/

Hi there;

Can you confirm Version 1.5.2 is compatible with Wordpress 5.5? My site just went down when the Wordpress 5.5 update attempted to run, and we updated to Florence Version 1.5.2 last week. We are currently troubleshooting and have reverted back to the previous version of Wordpress for the time being.

Thank you,

Hi Justine,

The only issue we’re currently aware of is a problem with the Vafpress Post Formats UI plugin. We’ll be sending out an update asap with a new version of this plugin.

That being said, this plugin shouldn’t make your site go down so it sounds like you might also experience an issue from somewhere else. It could be an incompatibility issue with one of your other plugins. Did you see any error messages when your site went down? You could also check your error log via your webhost.

You can also try disabling all your plugins, then update to WP 5.5 again. If your site doesn’t crash, you can then try enabling your plugins back one by one until you find the one causing it.

Also, feel free to send us an email via the contact form on our profile page https://themeforest.net/user/solopine and include your site URL and a temporary admin account so we can take a better look at it.

Can you tell me how to target the Latest Posts widget, I want to change the post title text so it is uppercase?

I’ve used the code stated on the ‘targeting text elements’ article but it isn’t working:

/* Latest post widget post title */ .widget ul .side-newsfeed li .side-item .side-item-text h4 a {text-transform: uppercase}

Thank you!

Hi there,

You can try this CSS:

/Uppercase Post Widget Title/ .side-pop.list .side-pop-content h4 a { text-transform: uppercase; }

Hello sir, I would like to know what is the good size for the theme logo on laptop and mobile version also, how can I change the font and the size of the post text ? thank you

Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! If you could head on over to our support site at https://solopine.ticksy.com and open up a new support ticket, we’d be happy to help! Cheers!

I have create ticket. I’m waiting for a answer.

Hi there,

Thank you for that! I can see your ticket is in the queue and we’re working our way down to it. You’ll be sure to get a reply by this afternoon :-)

I cant install the theme. It says “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet. Theme installation failed.”. How will I solve this?

Hi there,

That particular error message is usually thrown when the wrong zipped folder is uploaded to your WordPress platform. When you first download Florence from ThemeForest, it will be zipped up in a theme package. You’ll want to unzip this first folder. Within, you’ll find another zipped folder titled “florence.zip”. THIS is the zipped folder you can upload to WordPress.

We have a guide on how to install Florence here: https://solopine.ticksy.com/article/3811

If you find yourself with any other questions while setting Florence up, please don’t hesitate to head over to our support site at https://solopine.ticksy.com and open a new support ticket. We’d be happy to help!

I just purchased this theme and I really like it. However I can’t figure out a way to make al images the total width of the post container like in the preview. There’s white around the edges of the image. But I want all images that I add to a post to be the same width as the container of the post. How can I do this?

Hi there, if you could head on over to our support site at https://solopine.ticksy.com , open up a new support ticket, and (if possible) include your site URL or screenshot of what’s occurring, we’d be happy to help! :-) Cheers!

Hi. Can you add support for wp_body_open to the theme? This hook was added back in version 5.2. Thanks!

Re: https://wordpress.org/support/wordpress-version/version-5-2/#new-body-tag-hook

Hi there,

Thanks for pointing this out, we’ll make sure to add support for it in the next update. For now you can add the code: <?php wp_body_open(); ?> to the header.php file on line 20

Thanks! Yes, I have already added :)

Hi. Reviewing the performance of my site colombianabroad.com and noticed the Latest Posts sidebar widget is loading original full resolution images instead of thumbnails. While the srcset references the various images sizes, the default src is the original and is being loaded by the browser on desktop resolution. (Debugged using Chrome Dev Tools and GTMetrix page analyzer.)

As the Latest Posts sidebar widget is only ever needing the smallest thumbnail, not sure why the original full resolution images would need to be referenced in any case. By contrast, the large Featured Images in the Post Listings are correctly sized. Thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks much!

Hi there!

You’re totally right! The “Florence: Latest Posts” widget should be cropping its thumbnails to 500×380 pixels but it looks like, in our latest update, we misspelled the thumbnail title within the code so it’s no longer cropping the images to the “solopine-misc-thumb” size. Thank you very much for pointing this out! I’ve noted this down and we’ll be sure to release a fix for this in Florence’s next update.

In the meantime, you can correct the thumbnail name by navigating to WP Dashboard > Plugins > Editor. In the top-right, select the plugin titled “Florence Core” from the drop-down menu. Then, on the right, go to the “inc” folder > “widgets” folder > and open up the file titled “post_widget.php”.

On lines 73 and 93, you’ll see code that looks like this:
<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_post_thumbnail('solopine-thumb'); ?></a>
Do you see the text within this code that looks like ‘solopine-thumb’? You can change this to instead be ‘solopine-misc-thumb’. Repeat this for both line 73 and line 93. Save changes to the file when finished.

Lastly, to refresh your Featured Images so that they can be cropped to this new thumbnail dimension, you can install the simple plugin called “Regenerate Thumbnails” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails). Once activated, navigate to WP Dashboard > Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails > and select the big button option to only regenerate your Featured Images. Let it run to 100% completion.

Please let us know how it goes or if you have any questions!

Glad I caught it! Made the changes to the plugin code. Would be even better if a smaller thumbnail was used for these but its a good improvement in performance.

Hi there,

If you could shoot us an email via our contact form on our ThemeForest profile page here (https://themeforest.net/user/solopine), we’d be happy to let you know how to reduce the “solopine_misc_thumb” thumbnail crop size or create a new, smaller one :-)

Be aware, theme looks nothing like the images. I just want to cry. What a waste of money.

Hi there,

I just replied to your support ticket. From your screenshot, I can definitely see that there’s a styling issue occurring. My first thought is that it may be related to an incompatible third-party plugin. In the ticket reply I sent you, I recommended some troubleshooting steps to determine out what’s causing the CSS issues. Feel free to reply within the support ticket once you can try the troubleshooting steps out. We’ll find what’s causing the issue with your Florence theme, no worries! :-)

Hi, I have been using this theme for a few years. Earlier this month I updated to the latest version of the florence theme and then I start getting internal server error 500 sometimes. I contacted my hosting provider and they said the site is generating too many entry processes from index.php. When I switched my site to a different theme (Twenty Fifteen) then I do not have this problem anymore. Would you be able to advise what I can do in this case – I really want to continue to use this Florence theme but it is causing errors that has affected my site, and I also notice the site is much slower when using Florence theme. Thank you so much in advance!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out! That sounds really strange. We haven’t had any other reports of this. If you could shoot us an email via our ThemeForest profile contact form here (https://themeforest.net/user/solopine), we’d be happy to take a closer look!

Hi there, I purchased the Florence theme a few years ago, still use it, still love it ! But, since the june update, I don’t manage to install the Florence core plugin.

It says “the download has failed. the URL is not valid” (with my own traduction from french ;) ) Do you have another link to download this plugin ? I dont’ fin it anywhere else

Thank you for your help !

Hi there,

Happy to hear it!

For the Popular Post widget, is this one that is possibly added via a third-party plugin? If so, I would recommend reaching out to the plugin’s support team.

For Florence’s Latest Post widget, if you aren’t seeing a thumbnail image, can you please make sure you’ve assigned a Featured Image to your posts? This can be done via the post’s edit screen on the right side where it says “Featured Image”.

If you are speaking of the Florence Post widget and you are indeed assigning a Featured Image to your posts but still aren’t seeing the image appear, feel free to shoot us an email via our ThemeForest profile page and include your site URL. We’d be happy to take a look.

Thanks again for your answer, I use the WP plugin, and I finally manged to fix it. Cheers !

Happy to hear it! :-)

Hi, I found the below information from Rosemary theme. Where do we add this in Florence theme so that the image pinning of related post, profile picture, header and sidebar are disable? Thank you.

“Easiest way would be to add data-nopin via javascript. You can go to Appearance > Theme Editor > “js” folder > solopine.js and on line 4 add: $(’#header img, #sidebar img, .post-related img, #footer img, #instagram-footer img’).attr({ ‘data-pin-no-hover’: ‘true’, ‘data-pin-nopin’: ‘true’ });

Make sure you clear any cache plugin you might be using and/or do a hard refresh CTRL+F5 in order to see the change immediately”

Hi there,

Happy to hear clearing the cache helped! For the Author Box image still appearing, that’s strange. You’re hoping to target the author image that appears beneath a singular post page, right? Can you please link me to a post on your site so I can take a closer look?

Hi, I checked again and now the gravatar image is no longer pinnable. Yay! Must be some cache that I missed. Thank you so much for your help!

Great! :-)

OH MAN! This theme is BEAUTIFUL! I’d love to buy it and am ready to load up some credit, but there’s one small thing I noticed in the Live Demo that’s holding me back.

On the “Features > Video Post” example, the video isn’t showing up. I only see just the shortcode for the Vimeo Video at the top of the post. Since I’m primarily posting videos on our blog, I’d like to see how this feature will look before making my purchase.

Please let me know if there’s another way to view this! Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks very much for the kind words and for pointing that out! It looks like they recently pulled that particular video from Vimeo. I’ve updated that video demo post with a new video (https://solopine.com/florence/cosmic-love/). Hopefully it’s looking better on your end as well now! ;-)

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions at all!

Hi there! I’ve been using Florence for about 4 years and love the theme. I was wondering if it’s possible to create a grid layout page (like this one: http://preview.themeforest.net/item/florence-a-responsive-wordpress-blog-theme/full_screen_preview/9574909?_ga=2.125621002.1650284985.1556900876-849166387.1556900876) for a category. For example, I would like to display all my recipes in sub-categories on my ‘Food’ page, rather than the default one column, chronological layout. Is something like this possible?

Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

So happy to hear you’re loving Florence still! :-)

I’m afraid the link you shared takes me to Florence’s main demo homepage and not a grid page. But may I ask if you’re referring to this layout?

Or this grid layout?

If so, you can set your archive/category pages to either of these layouts by navigating to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Archive Layout > and selecting the grid layout here.

The “Archive Layout” will be applied to archive pages such as your search results page, category pages, etc.

If I’m misunderstanding, though, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
