1. is there anyway to add custom background for the navbar? A 1×20 gradient image that will repeat across the bar?
2. how to edit the content of “class=”block-content sample-block”” and customize the appearance? Any links to creating your own custom menus with php/css much appreciated.
3. How do I disable “description” “reviews” “tags” “custom tab1”
4. How to add/change the “F” icon that shows up in the title of the browser of the webpage?
5. ”<.div class=”grid12-3”>” is customized for specific sized images. If my images are bigger or smaller, they will be resized. Question: How do i create a custom class or edit existing class for image size of my choice?
5a. What if I want to create a div class for say 5 columns with image size of my choice?
1. 2. When you want to make some non-standard design changes (for which you can’t find settings in theme admin panel), you can do it by adding custom CSS. Enable additional CSS file custom.css in which you can override or extend the default styles of the theme. All the CSS styles placed in this file will not be lost after upgrading the theme in the future. For more details about theme customization please refer to the user guide, chapters 5. Customization and 5.1.2 Override default CSS styles.
To find out which part of CSS you need to extend or override you can use Firebug, an add-on for Firefox: http://getfirebug.com/ ( http://getfirebug.com/video/Intro2FB.mp4 ) or other similar tool.
3. Description is just Magento product attribute. Tags and Reviews are Magento features which can be configured in Magneto admin. Custom tabs are just static blocks (all blocks are described in the user guide: 6.2.4 Product page)
4. It’s a “favicon”, it can be configured in Magento admin panel in System > Configuration.
5. You can build your own grids using built-in grid system,
please refer t the user guide: 6.4 Grid system
I am not sure how to install the sample data. I created and empty database (dbdemo) and imported the demo_database.sql.gz. Then I installed Magento 1.8.1 using Softaculous from my hosting company to www.mywebsite.com/dev. For the database name on the Magento install should I use the db name where I installed the sample data (db1)? Or use a different db name? Are there any other steps I need to do?
For the database name on the Magento install should I use the db name where I installed the sample data (db1)?
But you need to use Magento.zip (which already contains theme files) from the theme Quick Start Package. Not some clean Magento package from the hosting company.
All steps are described in the user guide:
3.1 Installation of demo store
I am considering buying this theme, however I never used Magneto before, how is it easy to make for example: demo 3 the default theme of the site?
does it need alot of programming skills?
There is a Quick Start Package included with the theme which is a copy of our demo site. It contains all the settings from all demos so you can check there every single detail of the configuration.
Our user guide contains many tips about basic Magento functionalities but it mostly focuses on the theme. So it would be the best for you if you install Magento on your server (it’s 100% free) to test it for a while and check if it suits your needs.
It requires some time to learn, the same as any other system, but it’s currently the best e-commerce platform so it’s really worth to try.
Magento is very popular so you can find tons of useful tutorials and articles on the web. Here are some resources for start:
One of my customers use your theme in version 2.1.2 and “hover effect for alt images” do not work for him in this version!
He doesn’t want to upgrade and I don’t know how to solve this issue
Does he must upgrade theme or issue appear from another place ?
Seems all configs OK but do not show!
Alternative images are displayed in all versions since 2.0
Please double check your configuration, compare it with the user guide.
My checkout is a problem. After the user choose the payment way, and click in continue, nothing happens, the checkou keep in the same page, doesn´t go to other step, review.
Can help me ?
If you’re using Magento 1.8.x, please make sure you installed theme patch for your version of Magento.
Other than that, this is not a theme error. Checkout is Magento’s core functionality not related to the theme, the checkout process wasn’t modified in our theme. This issue can be caused by some custom modifications or by third-party extensions.
How can I tranlsate the text on “Sale”and “New” labels for the products.
All interface labels added by this theme are located in app/design/frontend/<ThemeName>/default/locale/en_US/translate.csv. This file can be used to translate the interface into other languages. It can also be used to change one text to another text. For more details please refer to the user guide: 4.9.1 Interface translation
has this theme an infinite scroll on category page?
Unfortunately there is no such feature in Magento out of the box, you would need to customize the theme or find an extension which adds this kind of functionality.
i forgot to write my second question:
has this theme an ajax quick view option with quick add to cart button for home and category page?
I think it is a little better as load product page.
The same as with first question: this feature can be added with Magento extensions.
We enabled the single line display for products on category pages. It works fine. However, products on the product slider on our home page are still displaying on multiple lines. Because of this, there is very poor alignment on our main page.
How can we enable single line product display for our product sliders?
This option only works in grid view. Sliders have different structure so the items (and elements such as product name) can’t expand on mouse hover.
In case you want to customize the slider, this “Single Line” limit is based on CSS property https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/text-overflow
We’re thinking about adding this in the future but no strict plans yet.
on product page does not display product images.
i don’t have change the zoom > image Size or other things about images.
Infortis_CloudZoom on config > extended was deactivated … now it works …
I’ve added an image for the background on my site. However, this image does not appear on any mobile device for some reason. I cannot figure out why this is happening. I’ve flushed the cache several times on the mobile device and on the backend of the site.
Please provide a link to the site.
It seems to have fixed itself…I have no idea what changed, but it works now.
Probably browser cache wasn’t fully refreshed.
What improvements are planned on the “Brands” module
On what date will it be available?
E.g. support for special characters in brand name (such as üàâæé) etc.
We will probably not manage to do this in March so we moved the release date to April 15.
How can i translate the Cart button in minicart. When I change translate.csv this part is not translated. Thank you
All interface labels added by this theme (also “cart”) are located in app/design/frontend/<ThemeName>/default/locale/en_US/translate.csv
So maybe your .csv file is not valid, please check this. For more details please refer to the user guide: 4.9.1 Interface translation
“Cart” is also present in Magneto’s default translation files in app/locale/ so you may also need to edit some other files to change “Cart” to something else.
Applying this theme, I realized that the RMA functionality in magento is not working properly. I activated the module, enabled rma in frontend, enabled RMA on product level and it doesn’t works.
I disabled the theme and activated the default theme and it works, i see “My returns” in my account.
How do I make it works on fortis theme?
I’m sorry but I’m not sure what you mean by the RMA. Are you referring to some extensions?
The RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) is a default option in magento platform, it can be enabled from configuration/advance/disabled modules option -> Enterprise_Rma
In default theme if i set Enterpise_Rma option to “Enabled” i see that works correctly while in the theme fortis doesn’t works.
thanks for the fast reply,
So this is from Enterprise Edition. This theme was designed for Magento Community Edition. It will work on Magento EE, but you may need some minor customization since Magento EE has some additional features, such as this RMA.
Excellent theme and very flexible. Our website is coming along quite nicely and I will post a link once we are finished.
I do however have a question. I would like to remove the top link buttons “Wish list” and “Compare”. I tried other tips in this support section and tried via local.xml but somehow it won’t work. Can you please help me out here?
Thank you for kind words, glad you like it.
To remove “Wishlist” link you need to disable Wishlist functionality in Magento. The “Compare” drop-down in the header can be disabled here:
System > Configuration > Fortis > Theme Settings > Block “Compare” in the Header
That worked great. One minor thing though. I disabled Compare in the header, but somehow in the Product Pages the Left Compare Block keeps showing up. I cannot find it in the Static Blocks list. How do I disable that one?
Unfortunately there is no setting in Magento to disable ”compare” feature (we’re planning to it to the theme in the future updates). You would need to customize the theme and remove all that’s related to ”compare” manually.
To remove the sidebar block you can open theme’s local.xml and uncomment this line:
I’m trying to get related products to show on the products page. I’ve tried all sorts of settings under ‘System > Configuration > Fortis > Theme Settings’ and followed the user guide. All products are visible on the frontend. Not done any changes to the theme files but still no related products show up on the products page. Is there something else I’ve missed?
Solved. Wasn’t showing due to the products not been in the same category.
can you show me the way to remove this block ? https://app.box.com/s/wdya8vldohtc54y5lm8t i am newbie, thank you so much !
For support please kindly use the account which was used to buy the theme on ThemeForest.
Thank you in advance.
I’m returning after having covered the Magento user guide. I have one big question that remained unanswered from the book.
How can I change the contents of a page (images, text etc)? Does Fortis includes a visual tool to do that?
Custom pages can be edited in section CMS -> Pages. Magento has built-in WYSIWYG editor which you can use to built page content, add images, format text etc.
You can also change layout of pages (select 1-, 2- or 3-column layout).
I would like to know if : rel=”prev” and rel=”next” to relevant category pages is implemented
I’m sorry but I’m not sure I understand your question (sorry for my english). Can you clarify a bit?
