Hi,

I am highly considering purchasing this template. But before I do, I would like to know how the grid works when adding a new project to the portfolio page. Does the newest added project appear first, does it get added to the bottom of the page, or does this template have an option to re-order projects as I see fit without writing new code? Right now my website is a pain to update and I would just like to be able to add my newest projects without having to go in and re-write all of my code just to make it appear first.

Please let me know. I would love to purchase this as soon as I know what the grid can do :)

Thanks!

Hi There!

I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!

The newest will appear first, but you can also drag and drop the order of your choosing:

Ok perfect! This is exactly what I’m looking for then. Thanks for the quick response! :)

I do have one more question. Is there an option to embed a responsive Instagram feed? If not, it’s ok. I can always look up how to add that into the code myself.

Great! :)

There’s no instagram feed functionality with this theme, but there’s a plethora of free plugins that may fit the bill on the WordPress plugin repository:

Amazing demo, so good looking I want to lick it! But before I buy, I am nervous as to I don’t see any page builder support, so when we build custom pages, I have no idea what I have to deal with.

Is this explained or is there a video demo of the backend?

Hi There!

Gridstack was designed to be used without the need for a page builder. When you create your pages you can build different elements through the WordPress content editor and adding different gallery settings. If you look at this example for instance:

http://gridstack.themewich.com/portfolio/barber-shop-logo/

This page was created using different gallery and image styles directly in the content editor. When you add a gallery, you can select between a few different options to change the format: https://cl.ly/0Z023U3S2o0u

Same goes for images.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Guys, I see that the last update was May 2nd, 2016. When will you update to the latest version of WP?

Hi illgraffdesign,

Gridstack is compatible with the latest version of WordPress (4.8).

Andre

Hi,

There’s a bug in your theme. The file ”/gridstack/framework/admin/options-backup.php” uses the old PHP 5 class constructor which is not compatible with PHP 7. You should change it to __construct().

Regards

Thanks for reporting! I’ll have to push out a PHP7 fix for this in the next version. Thanks again.

Hi, Is there some way to show a list of portfolio items’ published year similar to how this works to show posts by year?

<?php wp_get_archives(‘type=yearly’); ?>

Thank you!

Hi Swash!

The posts shortcode automatically adds columns for you so you don’t need to use a column shortcode. However, you can certainly overwrite this with custom css if you like, under Theme Options > Customize:

.sidepostcontainer .tw-one-third {
    width: 100%;
}

That will extend them to 100% the container width.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Andre

Thanks—any ideas on first question? I’m trying to show portfolio posts rather than blog posts by year, so unfortunately the trick you mentioned won’t work.

Hi Swash!

You’ll need to create a custom template for this. Unfortunately, customizations go beyond the scope of the Support Policy. You’ll need to seek the help of a developer for assistance making this modification. I recommend creating a child theme and adding an additional archives template there. You can download a starter child theme for Gridstack here:

The version of Visual Composer shipped with the theme (5.1.1) is giving some errors with the latest version of WodPress (4.9). Could you ship a more recent version (5.4.3 or newer) with it, please? Thanks in advance

Hi CFCBilbao,

Visual composer is not shipped with Gridstack. Did you get Visual Composer through another theme perhaps? I don’t have anything I can send you, unfortunately.

Andre

Hi again :)

How do you disable the rotate effect when hovering on images in a gallery? I tried this CSS from comments above but it didn’t work… any other trick?

a.postlink:hover img { -webkit-transform: none; -moz-transform: none; -o-transform: none; -ms-transform: none; }

nvm I figured it out ===>

.csstransitions .single-gallery a:hover img { -webkit-transform: none !important; -moz-transform: none !important; -o-transform: none !important; -ms-transform: none !important; }

Great! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello, In your features you talk about “Touch/Swipe Support for Sliders”. Is the Full-Width Carousel can be draggable/touchSwipe enable like Royal Slider ? Guillaume

Hi Guillaume! Sliders can be swiped to the left or right to change slides, but they aren’t “draggable” since they are fade transitions. There’s no way to “drag” a fade, if that makes sense!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi gridstack developers, your theme looks great!

I am thinking about using it for a new project….

Can you tell me if it is possible to make my portfolio overview only available to those with a password? So I can put some exclusive content in a grid for my special customers?

Hope to hear from you!

Maaike

Hi Maaike!

Yep! There should be a Page that shows your portfolio items. You can password protect that (not the individual portfolio items). Can you find your portfolio page in the admin?

Hi, thanks! Love the way you try to help me figure this out :-). My friend has made a small setup to try this… Unfortunately the password protected part is below the overview of the portfolio items :-( http://www.schoolbreed.nl/complete-toolkit/

Ah, I see what you’re saying. You may need to make a small tweak to the template file. Unfortunately, I need to verify you have a valid support license to help you further. Can you shoot me an email with your purchase code so I can verify support?

Thanks!

I see a lot of fonts are being automatically added which are not needed and that have an influence on the pagespeed. f.i. via Framework.php it loads all italic fonts, it also loads fonts like lato and playfair. How can I remove this?

Hi Illgraffdesign,

By default the theme will load italic variants of body font and any fonts you select in the Theme Options > Fonts page. However, you can certainly overwrite the theme’s webfont loader and provide your own.

You can do this via a child theme by adding a new function called ag_load_fonts and outputting your webfont loader there.

However, it looks like your support has expired. You’ll need to renew your support license for the theme in order to receive help with this.

Andre

I do have a child theme and only Open Sans selected. So that is why I find it very weird that other fonts are being loaded which are not set in theme options or called somewhere else ?

They shouldn’t be. Are you sure some other plugin isn’t loading google fonts in addition to the theme? The theme will only load fonts you select in the Theme Options.

Do you have a link to your site so I can see the font loading?

is there an option for a retina logo?

Hi Brian!

There isn’t a built-in option, however, you can add double-size (2x) logo to your site, then navigate to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and enter this into the “Additional CSS” box:

#logo img {
    -moz-transform: scale(0.5);
    -webkit-transform: scale(0.5);
    transform: scale(0.5);
    transform-origin: left center;
}

Let me know if you have any questions about this!

Andre

Yes. thanks, setting it to 50% just makes it smaller, but setting the double sized logo to 100% seems to work! One other question. How can I change the background color of a single section?

Hi Brian,

I’m not sure what you mean by sections exactly. Could you clarify this a bit? Unfortunately, customizations go beyond the scope of the Support Policy. You’ll need to seek the help of a developer for assistance in making this modification.
