Hi, I love your theme. I want to use some short codes in it so that I can tailor it for use as a regional directory. I saw in your comments from awile back that you think that WPExplore’s short codes plugins may work. I would like to be able to use the Tabs short code to add some Tabs on my post pages so that I could organize the content.

Do you think that the WPExplore’s short code and the Visual Composer Wordpress plugin will work with Hickory.

I still think Hickory is one of the cleanest and well desinged themes on the market.

Thanks

Hi Marbran,

I just tested the WPExplore shortcodes and it seems like their tabs shortcode works great in Hickory: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/1711919/aa586ebf9a66b71fae9d485deda0b7d5

We haven’t tested Visual Composer though.

Cheers!

Thanks so much for the quick response and information, SoloPine! Appreciate it.

That looks like it will work great for my needs. Thanks again.

Cheers! :-)

I would like to know before I purchase more support since I already did purchase it in the past if something is possible with this theme first. I would like to have the responsive design fixed so posts fill the entire width of mobile browsers. The way this currently fits is squeezing the content to the center with useless side borders on either side. Can this be fixed? Thank you I hope to get a response my previous asks when I did have paid support went unanswered. That was a total bummer. JM

Thank you so much. That worked with just one hiccup. Check out the site it looks like its stretching the images in the Hickory Options > Homepage Options > Choose Featured Area Layout (3 images/posts). Easy way to fix this? Thank you.

Hi Jordan,

I see, the issue is that the images are being cropped at 300px. We’ll need to change the cropping size and some css accordingly. Please send us an email via our profile page and we can point you in the right direction.

Done. Thank you for your help

So, when I started with this excellent theme, I wanted dates removed from the posts on the widgetized homepage. Now I want the dates to show again, but I can’t remember how I managed to remove the dates. I’ve not added any custom css, and as far as I can tell, the homepage_widget.php is unedited. https://needledrop.dk

Cheers

Hi there,

It looks like the CSS you added in the past was via the style.css file. You can add the following to your custom CSS in order to show the date again:

.item_meta { display:block; }

Using the nextpage tag I wonder if there is a way to get the pagination on top and bottom?

Hi there,

Are you using the Theia Post Slider plugin that comes with the theme? If so, you can go to Settings > Theia Post Slider > Navigation Bar > set “Vertical Position” to “Top and Bottom”.

Cheers

Would you think that the Revolutio slider plugin would work with Hickory? AM thinking of using on the home page to display video content in place of the slider.

Thank you.

Hi there,

I’m afraid we haven’t officially tested Hickory with Revolution Slider, so we’re unfortunately not able to guarantee 100% compatibility. My apologies!

Cheers!

Thanks for the response. I’ll let you know how I make out with it if I give it a try.

Thanks very much! :-) Cheers!

Hello, I would like to know if I can install this theme in my multisite installation.

Hi Junojo,

Yes that should not be an issue.

Cheers

Hello, I’m using the Hickory theme for 1,5 years now and I’m very happy how it works. However, I found out that since one week the pagination on my homepage has disappeared, even though it is a listed lay-out. How can I ‘replace’ the pagination? Thanks in advance.

I took a look at your site but it’s hard to debug. Do you mind sending us an email via our profile page and include your wp-admin info so we can take a better look at it?

Cheers

I’d prefer not to send my wp-admin info. Perhaps I can sent you an overview of all the plugins I have? Is that something that might help you to find the bug?

Hi there,

I’m afraid we’re not able to debug an issue just by viewing the plugins which are enabled. If it is plugin-related, we highly recommend you disable all plugins (as noted in the reply from 22 days ago), clearing any caches, and seeing if the issue disappears. I understand that you may lose some plugin settings if you disable them and will have to reset your plugin settings afterward, but this is often the only way to see if a plugin is to blame for a bug.

For example, I can see that you have a Google Maps console error showing for your site, though I’m not certain if this is to blame for the disappearing pagination.

Hopefully disabling a particular plugin will resolve the issue :-)

Cheers!
