Site speed seems to be drastically affected by the JS and CSS of this theme. Is there any plan to update the theme to make it load faster on google page speed insights? Also, the updates we make to the Yoast plugin won’t save. I am thinking there is some type of conflict with the theme and that plugin…

We could really use some assistance here. The Hornet theme has a ton of CSS and Javascript issues. Had we known we were going to have so many problems with this theme, we would have never bought it and built this site on it.
We have read every single one of your articles at your “help center” can’t get the load time/site speed any lower.
Please let us know how we can get these issues resolved ASAP as we have a very unhappy client and our SEO manager is having an extremely hard time optimizing the site as he works on optimizing the site he then gets all kinds of theme related CSS & Javascript errors.
Also, even after working with paid support, the Yoast plugin still won’t work properly and save any of the SEO teams work and Yoast says the errors are due to the outdated theme.
I am sending an email with all of the attachments showing the actual errors to the help center email address.

Hi! The menu, and any buttons in live version are not clickable for me, the loading graphic appears but it never goes anywhere. I can however right click and choose to “open in another window”. How do I fix this?

Hi when will be new update? I have my own licence of Visual Composer, so I could update it separately, but I am afraid if it is compatible with your theme (last update was in August 2017 with VC 5.2 and now there is 5.4.7 version) . Thank you

Hi,
when running PHP 7.2 the Hornet theme does not render the wide menu and generates an error instead. The error is:
( ! ) Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /wp-content/themes/hornet/mkdinc/nav_menu/mkd-menu.php on line 85.
Could you please update the theme? Actually, it has not been updated since August 2017. Would you recommend I switch to another theme of yours that gets more frequent updates?

Hornet theme is not compatible yet with PHP version 7.2 so please change it until the new update and compatibility with version 7.2 is out.
We are preparing update which will contain compatibility and it is now in testing phase. Theme update will be released very soon, but until then, please downgrade to previous version until we release compatibility update.

Newest update says version 1.5 but when you download it, you get Version 1.4 and the parallax effect on latest Chrome versions is still not fixed.
Parallax fixed by: .content > .content_inner > .full_width { position: relative !important; z-index: 5000; }
But still Version 1.4?

Changes were integrated into version 1.5 but after theme update you need to clear browser cache in order to see changes to parallax. It just seems that developer forgot to increase version to 1.5 inside style.css filed, but all fixes were applied to theme files. Right now we are working on new update, so version will be changed accordingly.

Hi, I have site with your theme. Previous site developer didn’t use child theme. If I tried to use, there are missing elements. It’s impossible to set everything again and I don’t see any theme options export. Is there any way how to switch to child theme on already set and used parent theme without losing data? Thank you.

If previous developer configured some new elements directly inside parent theme you cannot know which changed were made except to go trough code, but in case that you are referring to menu and widgets elements, that is perfectly normal since they are saved in WordPress database per active theme so when activating child theme you will need to save menu location and to position widgets and they this will be saved for future for child theme also.

Hi, I’ve updated site today to latest Themeforest files, but Your theme option panel still says version 1.4 not 1.5. Just notice because client could be confused. Their support expired, so I can’t create ticket.
Next issue: your Mikado Carousel ignores item number 3 – it always falls back to default (where I don’t know where to set). But number: 4 items works correctly.

Mikado carousel is created in that way so it need 4 items in order to work. Possibility to change this ins’t integrated but we may add this functionality in future update. Regarding version number, you were right. We will have to fix this in upcoming update.

We looked at that code already, and solution is in tat article. WP 4.8 is firing function in text widgets now because Visual Editor is present and every line will be wrapped with paragraphs which is causing misalignment https://www.screencast.com/t/PMQlYN8ZCM and your code is fine so add that code in order to fix this.

The right version is 1.5. Styles.css file was not updated properly so it displays wrong version. It will be fixed in upcoming version. You can continue using your theme, it is up to date.

My support expired, but updating this theme to work with the latest Wordpress caused a fatal error on my site! Contacted my hosting service for help and they said it was an issue with the update I had installed, said it had bad coding and to contact the theme developers.
In the meantime, my site is currently down and unless I want to pay another $40 for 6 more months of support, I’m SOL! Please help.

How to update Hornet WordPress theme?
To safely update your copy of Hornet WordPress theme please follow these steps:
1. Go to your ThemeForest dashboard and download the latest All files & documentation zip archive from the Downloads page
2. Extract the downloaded archive and locate hornet.zip file
3. Extract hornet.zip file and locate the folder named hornet
4. Connect to your live server using an FTP software
5. Find and replace the contents of the existing hornet folder under /wp-content/themes on your live server with the contents of the downloaded hornet folder
How to update Visual Composer and LayerSlider plugins to latest version?
With each new theme update comes the latest version of Visual Composer and LayerSlider.
To properly update these plugins first make sure that you’re using the main Hornet theme (set in WP Admin -> Appearance -> Themes.) and then follow these steps:
1. Navigate to your Plugins tab in your WordPress dashboard, and locate these plugins in the list – deactivate and delete them.
2. You will see a message that the installation of these two plugins is required
3. Click to install the plugins and then activate them
Note: Before updating LayerSlider, we advise that you export the existing LayerSlider slideshows and re-import them once the update is completed.

This theme is driving me crazy, so much shit that doesn’t work or doesn’t respond. Not to mention how much useless stuff it has. Been trying for like 2 days straight trying to get header menu to work for all the pages. This is the most ridiculous theme I’ve ever had to work with. I’m so fed with shit.
